Kristen Bell Details “the Real Stuff" in Family Bond With Dax Shepard
Kristen Bell is in the midst of a new parenting experience for the first time in forever.
The Nobody Wants This actress shared that her and husband Dax Shepard’s daughters Lincoln, 13, and Delta, 11, are currently in the “cyclone of puberty,” which has provided some new challenges at home.
“It’s hard,” Bell admitted in an interview with Bustle published Oct. 22. “Do not think because I am on your television that it is easy for me. It’s brutal. I cry weekly.”
The 46-year-old shared that she turns to professionals for help on the matter, adding, “Oftentimes when you’re in that cyclone of puberty, you could think, 'My kid is the only one doing this.' And that is just simply not a fact.”
And while she always wants to be honest about what her family is going through, the Frozen star also wants to be careful about how much she shares in regards to her kids’ privacy, especially now that they’re getting older.
“For the good of the people, we should share our dirty stories, we should share our shame, we should share our hardships,” Bell said. “But for the good of the one?”
As she saw it, her “main job in life” is to protect her daughters.

“I guess a conclusion we came to at a time in our parenting journey is we can share all the cute things when they’re little, but when they could possibly be exposed to [media] or possibly have a feeling in response to it … well, now, the equation has changed,” Bell explained. “There’s someone else in the mix, and you have to have enough self-awareness and consideration to consider that person. And that person is my daughter, so she’s No. 1.”
Lincoln and Delta are also No. 1 when it comes to the projects that Bell is willing to accept, saying she always considers if it will pull her away from them too much and not allow her to be the mom she wants to be.

“That’s really the No. 1, to be honest,” she said of parenthood. “There’s nothing higher than that.”
And being a mom is far more important to her than any other aspect of her life.
“I would easily let my whole career and all its legacy and notoriety ‘disapparate’ tomorrow,” she explained, “if it meant sacrificing something major in my kids’ lives, or not being there.”
