And now songwriter Sonnenblick, the man behind the film's Oscar-nominated soundtrack, has said it's all systems go for a follow-up.
In November it was reported that Netflix and Sony had finalised a deal with plans to release the animated musical sequel in 2029.
Sonnenblick says the sequel is gearing up for its development phase, telling the BBC: 'There's going to be a whole development process before we get deep into writing the songs.'
