KPop Demon Hunters feels perfectly primed for a video game adaptation, its hyper-stylized action and fluid animation undeniably suiting a character action title akin to Bayonetta. However, for the time being, as the world awaits a full-blown KPop Demon Hunters game, fans must settle for titles that offer an experience akin to it. Unfortunately, currently, there aren't too many games like KPop Demon Hunters, save for one upcoming title that blends its unique style and even certain plot points with Marvel's Spider-Man's rooftop action shenanigans.

Indeed, this upcoming action title feels like the ideal game to get hyped about while one awaits the aforementioned KPop Demon Hunters adaptation and even Insomniac's own extremely unique Marvel's Wolverine game. It truly is the perfect blend between everything fans loved about the smash-hit Netflix film and inarguably one of the best superhero games ever made. The best part is that it is coming from a visionary video game developer whom players across the world admire.

Kemuri is an upcoming open-world action title from developer Unseen, spearheaded by the beloved Ikumi Nakamura. It blends Yokai hunting action with rooftop-hopping parkour to create a fluid and frenetic experience that absolutely evokes both of the aforementioned titles. Utilizing a hyper-stylized manga-inspired art style, not dissimilar to KPop Demon Hunters' own unique aesthetic, Kemuri is a visually vibrant and richly detailed experience that absolutely looks as if it'll appeal to KDH fans.

Initially announced back in 2023, Kemuri was reshowcased at the 2026 State of Play with a stunning new trailer revealing actual gameplay. It is there that fans learned exactly how it would play and just how similar it was compared to Marvel's Spider-Man and KPop Demon Hunters. That isn't to discredit Kemuri by any means, but rather to give fans interested in either (or both) of those properties a reference point from which to get excited about Nakamura's self-published title.

Three characters standing in a city in Kemuri.

Kemuri sees up to three players hunt down Yokai utilizing the Foxwindow, a special technique used by forming a square-shaped symbol with one's hands. It allows players to actually see the Yokai, and thus better track them down and defeat them. Once bested, you'll then form a contract of sorts with the Yokai, allowing it to possess you, completely changing the character's appearance, abilities, and even traversal methods in certain cases. Ostensibly, players hunt Yokai and then transform into them.

It's a novel idea, one that absolutely taps into Nakamura's strengths as a creative, that should appeal to those who enjoy the action-packed gameplay of Marvel's Spider-Man and the stylings and plot of KPop Demon Hunters. Sure, it isn't quite the official KPop Demon Hunters game that some were hoping for, but it is about as close as we'll ever get. Regardless, Kemuri, which is scheduled to release in 2027, should satiate the desire for a KPop Demon Hunters video game for the time being, and please those who've been after something akin to Marvel's Spider-Man.
