A cinematic obsessive with the filmic palate of a starving raccoon, Rob London will watch pretty much anything once. With a mind like a steel trap, he's an endless fount of movie and TV trivia, borne from a misspent youth of watching monster movies on TV, perusing the sun-faded goods at the local video rental shop, and staining his fingers with ink from the Video Movie Guide. Areas of interest include science fiction, film noir, horror flicks, '70s disaster pictures, Bond movies, '90s action, giant robots, dinosaurs, super heroes, and the exuberantly schlocky output of Cannon Films. He also enjoys both Star Trek and Star Wars when they're good, and maybe even more when they're bad. As a Canadian, he also has a vested interest in Canadian movies and TV shows, especially the cheesier ones dubbed "Canuxploitation."
An expert on Marvel Comics, he has also written for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and is a member of the Marvel Research Team. He can frequently be found pontificating on comic-book continuity or bemoaning the misfortunes of the Toronto Maple Leafs on his Twitter account.
This fall, Riverdale's KJ Apa stars as Hollywood legend Jimmy Stewart in Jimmy, a new biopic that will chronicle the actor's service in World War II and his return to stardom. Now, Collider can exclusively reveal that Burns and Co, the studio behind the film, intends to give back to people who serve their country by providing one million tickets to Jimmy for active duty military members, veterans, first responders, and their families. As part of the Give Back campaign, the studio also shared several exclusive new stills from the film, including Apa and fellow cast members Rob Riggle (The Daily Show) and Kara Killmer (Chicago Fire). Jimmy will be released in theaters on November 6, 2026.
The first donation to the campaign came from Papaian Studios founder Hien Papaian, who made a contribution of 10,000 tickets to the cause in the memory of her late husband, Haig Papaian Jr. In a statement, she praised the film as a worthy recipient of her generosity, stating, "Beyond the Hollywood glamour and the trials of war, what resonated most was its message of kindness – something our world desperately needs right now. Jimmy reminds us to look beyond our own struggles, to embrace the suffering of others, and to choose grace." Donations to the campaign can be made at VetTix.org.
What Is 'Jimmy' About?
Apa stars as Stewart, the everyman actor who was one of America's biggest stars when he answered the call of duty during World War II, flying missions over Europe. Returning home at war's end, he starred in It's a Wonderful Life, the film that would eventually define his career. In addition to Apa, the film also stars Jen Lilley (Days of Our Lives) as Stewart's wife, Gloria; Jason Alexander (Seinfeld) as studio executive Louis B. Mayer; Max Casella (The Sopranos) as director Frank Capra; Neal McDonough (Justified) as Stewart's father, Alexander; Sarah Drew (Grey's Anatomy) as gossip columnist Hedda Hopper; and Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore) as actor Lionel Barrymore.
Jimmy is directed and produced by Aaron Burns (Legacy Peak), from a script by Justin Strawhand (Birthright Outlaw). Stewart's daughter, Kelly Stewart Harcourt, is a producer on the film. In a statement on the campaign, she said, "...I believe that Dad would approve of this film because the story it tells is so true and so meaningful. I feel that it captures Dad’s spirit, and what his military service meant to him. When I visited the set in Ireland I was struck by the communal feelings of pride and cooperation and real happiness. I felt Dad’s presence there. It was magical."
Jimmy will be released in theaters on November 6, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
