Kinsey Fabrizio will become the next CEO of the Consumer Technology Association, the trade association that owns CES, succeeding Gary Shapiro, who has led the organization for 35 years.

Shapiro will continue to serve as executive chair after the transition on May 1.

Fabrizio, who joined CTA in 2008, has been president since 2024. The trade association’s executive board said in its announcement to members that she “has helped modernize CTA’s membership, expand CES offerings, advance emerging technology categories, and elevate CTA’s role in technology policy, including her testimony before Congress on artificial intelligence.”

The CTA became an independent organization under Shapiro’s tenure, and CES into the largest annual U.S. trade show. He’s also been a major voice in policy debates, at times at odds with the entertainment and media business on issues like piracy legislation, while he’s testified before Congress on other topics like AI and intellectual property. CTA represents more than 1,200 technology companies.

Shapiro said in a statement that the transition “strengthens our long-term vision and ensures stability as we enter our next chapter.”

Fabrizio said, “I am thankful to have spent most of my career at CTA, learning the organization and working alongside its most important resource, our people. Most importantly, I am grateful for the last 18 years I’ve spent learning from Gary, seeing firsthand how he advocates for our industry, our members, and CES. I’m excited to take on this new role and appreciate that he will continue to mentor me.”
