King Charles and Queen Camilla will visit the U.S. for a state visit during which they will meet with President Donald Trump, Buckingham Palace confirmed this morning.

“On advice of His Majesty’s Government, and at the invitation of The President of the United States, The King and Queen will undertake a State Visit to the United States of America,” a post from the Palace read, announcing the news.

“Their Majesties’ programme will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the UK and the US, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence.”

The Palace added that “the King will continue to Bermuda to undertake His Majesty’s first Royal Visit as Monarch to a British Overseas Territory” after visiting the United States.

The BBC reports that the trip will include a state dinner at the White House and the King will deliver an address to Congress.

King Charles hosted Donald Trump at Windsor Palace late last year as part of a state visit to the UK. That trip marked Trump’s second state visit to the UK.

News of the King’s visit comes just days after U.S. Congressman Ro Khanna publicly called for King Charles to meet with survivors of the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
