Kim Kardashian was angry at her on-off friend Paris Hilton's refusal to be interviewed for her new biography, it has been revealed.
Over five years, Jonathan Van Meter penned Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future – with 46-year-old Kardashian's consent – to be published on October 27.
Amid his writing process, Van Meter planned to discuss Kardashian with 45-year-old Hilton, who has known the mogul since childhood and hired her as an assistant in the early aughts.
However, the heiress reportedly cancelled their interview multiple times, allegedly leaving Kardashian very upset.
'Kim was so mad when I told her. It seemed to stir up some ancient irritation between them. The creation turning on the creator,' Van Meter told The Hollywood Reporter.
He detailed, 'I sent questions, connected with Paris’ assistant, and then the interview was canceled 17 times over about four months. Eventually I thought the cancellations were more interesting than whatever she’d tell me.'

Van Meter said Hilton emerged as a potential reference 'late in the process' of writing the biography.
'Late in the process, I told Kim I should talk to her,' he shared. 'Kim checked and said Paris agreed, but I had to go through her publicist. That was unusual: With everybody else, Kim just sent a text.'
The Daily Mail has contacted Kardashian and Hilton's representatives for comment.
Kardashian first started gained media attention when she was an assistant and stylist for Hilton in the early 2000s.
On the heels of Kardashian's infamous sex tape with ex-boyfriend Ray J, the Kardashian-Jenner family got their break into reality television with the E! show Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
In 2021, Kardashian addressed her much-publicized feud with Hilton during the show's 20th season reunion.
Her older sister Kourtney Kardashian, now 47, lumped Hilton in with some of the family's friends who became 'such haters and so jealous' in the wake of the success of their reality show, which began airing in 2007.
'When everything started to blow up, it was just a little bit like, what's happening? Then we just stopped talking,' Kardashian said of her fractured friendship with Paris.

She added, 'I think we drifted for a while, but we're super back cool and I think that I have a lot of respect [for Paris],' before giving the entrepreneur credit for helping to put her name on the celebrity map.
'I will never think I'm too good [to know] where I came from and understand she was a big part of my career.
'Just being her best friend for so long... she opened up my mind to a whole other world. We have a really good relationship now,' the Skims founder insisted.
During the reunion, hosted by Andy Cohen, Kourtney reminded her sister that Paris once said her famous derriere reminded her 'of cottage cheese inside a big trash bag.'
The mom of four acknowledged, 'She did that interview about something that was negative to me, called my butt fat, but we spoke afterwards and had a real mature conversation about that.'
In one of multiple interviews with Van Mete over several years, she also credited ex-husband Kanye West with changing her life when they began dating. 'I realize that he loves, like, a project, right?' Kardashian explained to Van Meter, according to an excerpt shared by The Cut.
She continued: 'I think he really fell in love with the idea of me, and the project behind it all.
'He loves things that maybe aren't cool and "I'm going to make them cool." Whether it's, like, "I’m going to stop rapping and do a whole singing album, like 808s [& Heartbreak]."
'And everyone’s like, "How could you not rap? It's blasphemy!" And then it’s the best album.'
The billionaire added: 'I think he's like, "Let me be with a reality star. No one respects it. I’m going to show you how cool it is". He changed my life. He absolutely changed my life.'
