Kim Kardashian trolled by fans over alleged photoshop fail in new energy drink ad

Kim Kardashian was bombarded by trolls over ads she shared on her social media accounts on Tuesday.

Many fans said her face appeared to have been digitally altered in images from the photoshoot for her latest business venture.

The reality TV star, 45, was hit with accusations by users criticizing her for allegedly blurring her true skin texture and making tweaks to her natural facial features in the pictures.

Some people said that the photos didn't 'even look remotely like her,' while others called Kardashian out for allegedly altering the shape of her nose and 'erasing her nasolabial folds.'

The Daily Mail has reached out to Kardashian's representative for comment.

Kardashian — whose previous Instagram update was an emotional tribute dedicated to her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., 23 years after his death — recently joined as a cofounder of the energy drink brand, Update, ahead of its relaunch and plans for the beverages to hit shelves in Walmart stores nationwide.

Kim Kardashian released a series of photos promoting her latest business venture. In the snapshots for a caffeine-free energy drink brand, many fans claimed she looked unrecognizable after allegedly heavily photoshopping her appearance

While promoting the 'caffeine-free' and 'sugar-free' product to help improve focus, she shared a montage reel of herself sipping the canned drinks while getting her hair and makeup done, studying scripts and modeling for the shoot.

She explained that after joining the team, her 'first order of business' was changing the design of the packaging to look more minimalistic and 'masculine' as she 'loves masculine things.'

Rather than discussing her latest business venture on Kardashian's growing resume, many fans took to social media to talk about her 'altered' appearance in the ads.

Several of her fans took to Reddit to say that they couldn't believe the photo was 'real' while others brought up ongoing plastic surgery rumors even after she previously denied having any work done.

There were also social media users that expressed disappointment that Kardashian 'shaved all [her] ethnic features down' and praised her natural beauty.

Some users on X tweeted about how Kardashian looked more like her youngest daughter Chicago than herself.

Others even speculated she altered the photo of herself with artificial intelligence (AI).

Some specifically pointed out how her nose looked different in one image Kardashian has since deleted from her Instagram after many fans online asked: 'Who is this?'

Kardashian had seemingly deleted one particular snapshot, which many fans had saved and started circulating on social media as they alleged she altered the shape of her nose and lips with photoshop

Some social media users on Reddit and X, formerly Twitter, trolled Kardashian as they speculated she got a 'botched' nose job and alleged she had excessively edited the photoshoot images; pictured in September 2024

On Tuesday, the entrepreneur announced her latest business venture for a caffeine-free and sugar-free energy drink brand and said she joined as co-founder of Update ahead of their relaunch

She shared many photos and videos from her journey of working with the brand to change the packaging and then modeling with the new designs ahead of the product forthcoming distribution in Walmart stores nationwide

Rather than discussing the product as Kardashian joins her sisters in adding beverage brands into their massive family business, however, fans called her out for digitally changing her face

Some fans expressed disappointment that she allegedly smoothed out her nasolabial folds and tweaked the shape of her nose. Some trolls said she no longer looked like herself and even perhaps even resembled her seven-year-old daughter Chicago more than herself in the photos

On Reddit, one user asked if the since-deleted photo from her ad was 'really her' as another person commented that it appeared to be the star but 'in her delusions and dreams' and 'with a lot of photoshop.'

In the same Reddit thread, another troll claimed her 'philtrum and her nasolabial folds are edited' as another accused her of a 'bad nose job.'

One person wrote that the alleged cosmetic surgery and digital alterations made her look like she was 'in her botched era.'

There were also many trolls on X criticizing the reality star's appearance in the photos from her energy drink ads.

One social media user tweeted that her 'lips and nose' specifically looked different.

'Every day a new face,' another person wrote on X, formerly Twitter, alongside a laughing emoji.

Other fans said that the new photos of Kardashian looked more like her when she was in her teenage years and early 20s.

Some even said the SKIMS founder resembled her seven-year-old daughter, Chicago, whom she shares with ex-husband Kanye West, more than how she looked in recent sightings.

In addition to the photoshoot images, Kardashian shared an Instagram reel of herself drinking the canned beverage in a variety of outfits and settings

She explained how she adored the product so much, she decided to join the team as cofounder and assist in their product relaunch with a new marketing strategy

She also shared behind-the-scenes footage of designing the cans and modeling for the photoshoot

Simultaneously promoting her clothing brand, she shared clips of her sipping the Update energy drink over what appeared to be the course of several weeks or months

All of the social media posts she made for the product has been quickly circulating online as many fans discussed her and her family's history of using photoshop and undergoing cosmetic procedures

Other trolls on X also concurred with the same sentiment as they analyzed Kardashian's newly released photos.

'It looks like her face is photoshopped to look like her youngest daughter,' one person tweeted alongside a crying emoji.

'It looks like [an] age progression for Chicago,' another social media user tweeted.

According to Forbes, the relaunch of Update and Kardashian joining the team as cofounder comes three years after the product first went on the market.

The billionaire businesswoman was apparently a fan of the startup's product and wanted to join the team to help their relaunch.

Update energy drinks use a caffeine alternative to avoid mood crashes, according to the product description.

Per the description, Update 'uses paraxanthine, the compound the human body naturally forms from caffeine, rather than caffeine itself, an approach the company says "eliminates the crash, jitters and overstimulation" of traditional energy drinks.'

The reality star reportedly began using the product for an energy boost in 2023 and started offering unsolicited feedback the following year, which led to a partnership, according to a press release obtained by Forbes.

On Reddit, one user asked if the since-deleted photo from her ad was 'really her' as another person commented that it appeared to be the star but 'with a lot of photoshop, yeah'

In the same Reddit thread, another troll claimed her 'philtrum and her nasolabial folds are edited' as another accused her of a 'bad nose job'

One person wrote that the alleged cosmetic surgery and digital alterations made her looked 'botched'

There were also many trolls on X criticizing the reality star's appearance in the photos from her energy drink ads. One social media user tweeted that her 'lips and nose' specifically looked different

'Every day a new face,' another person wrote on X, formerly Twitter, alongside a laughing emoji

Other fans said that the new photos of Kardashian looked more like her when she was in her teenage years and early 20s or even like her seven-year-old daughter Chicago, whom she shares with ex-husband Kanye West

Forbes shared that Kardashian helped with new packaging, reformulation, as well as more 'accessible pricing,' though the exact pricing has not yet been disclosed.

The outlet also reported that the financial terms of the deal between Update's original cofounders and Kardashian were not publicly shared.

Since Kardashian joined as cofounder, the brand has landed a nationwide distribution agreement with Walmart.

The Kardashian-sponsored energy drinks — featuring five flavors at first and additional ones to come — will begin distribution across 4,000 Walmart stores starting on March 1.
