Kim Kardashian reveals where she stands with Kanye West as her romance with Lewis Hamilton heats up

Kim Kardashian is opening up about where things really stand with ex Kanye West - and it comes just as rumors swirl that her connection with Lewis Hamilton is shifting into high gear. 

The reality star got candid following a whirlwind European getaway that had fans buzzing about her longtime friendship with the Formula One champ. 

Speaking to Complex on Thursday, Kim reflected on how her relationship with West has evolved since their very public split.

The former couple first crossed paths in 2012, married two years later, and ultimately called it quits when Kim filed for divorce in 2021, with the split finalized the following year. 

Together they share four children - North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, eight, and Psalm, six  - and Kim made it clear that bond still comes first. 

Asked about recently promoting West’s Yeezy boots on TikTok, she didn’t dodge the moment, insisting that no matter what, they’re 'always family.'

'We both know that,' she added. 'We will be okay, and there's so much love for our family. We want what’s best for our kids.'

The interview comes after the 45-year-old mogul appeared on the latest episode of Khloé in Wonderland, where she admitted that despite plenty of post-marriage ups and downs, things between the exes now seem to be improving. 

Kardashian even went so far as to say she and West have started to “bond” again, thanks to North’s budding interest in producing. 

'You guys are in a much better place,' Khloe observed during the podcast.

Kim agreed, saying, 'I'm a really empathetic person. I mean, at the end of the day, we're always family. I always look at it that way, no matter what's going on. 

'There are times when I have to be super protective and there are times when, you know, at any moment, I would love that relationship. And I've always talked about that.

'The music side and the producing isn't my thing. And that's her bonding thing with her dad. 

'But even just like coming up with stuff, we have to communicate about how North moves through that world and all these opportunities that come her way and having to filter that and like respecting his opinion on the things that go on with his kids is really important. 

'So yeah, I think he's so good at doing that. I think it's important for the kids. You just kind of have to put all the other stuff aside.'

Meanwhile, Kim’s recent sightings with Hamilton - including a cosy Cotswolds retreat and a luxe five-star Paris stay - have only fueled speculation that something more may be brewing. 

Over the weekend, she reportedly flew to the UK on her $150 million private jet for a 24-hour getaway with Hamilton at the exclusive Estelle Manor.

They were said to share a room in the main house, enjoying a couple’s massage and a private dinner before checking out Sunday morning - only to be spotted arriving in Paris just hours later.

Photos show the pair pulling up to a Paris hotel in an SUV around 1pm local time, and the following night Kardashian stepped out in a daring sheer ensemble for another date at Aqua Kyoto.

While the romance may feel sudden to some, Kardashian and Hamilton have actually been friends for more than a decade, first photographed together in 2014 with their then-partners, West and Nicole Scherzinger, at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in London. 

In 2015, Hamilton spent Easter with the family and even joined the VIP section when West headlined Glastonbury.

Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, 70, has also publicly praised Hamilton’s achievements and even suggested he could be a match for her supermodel daughter, Kendall Jenner. 

An insider told the Daily Mail: ‘Lewis has been friends with the family for a long time and enjoys being around the family and their entrepreneurial ways. But Lewis isn’t looking to be a stepdad, not looking to be the “it” couple with Kim.’

‘Their schedules are so demanding right now, so this setup works for them,’ the source added.

Kardashian herself opened up on the Call Her Daddy podcast in October 2025, saying she would ‘absolutely’ marry again if she found the right man, but admitted her ‘toxic’ marriage to West makes dating tricky.

‘There have been situations where I’ll get close to someone, then it’s like, “Wait, wait, wait, I don’t really want to deal with your ex. I don’t want to deal if he’s going to say something,”’ she explained. 

‘So, it has been a little frustrating, but then I get my person wouldn’t care about that.’

West recently apologized for his antisemitic rants, claiming his bipolar disorder caused him to lose ‘touch with reality’ in a full-page Wall Street Journal ad on January 26.

He blamed the outbursts on a brain injury from a 2002 car crash, saying it went ‘unnoticed’ at the time.

The rapper insisted the injury triggered his bipolar disorder, which he says fueled his troubling behavior.

Since parting ways with West, Kardashian also has been romantically connected to Tom Brady and Odell Beckham Jr.

Hamilton, meanwhile, had an on-again, off-again romance with Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger from 2007 until their split in 2015. 

He was most recently linked to model Ashley Moore in September 2025 and British singer Raye last summer.

Meanwhile, some of Hamilton’s exes, including Nicole Scherzinger, reportedly feared his infamous temper.

They’re said to be relieved that Kardashian has made her own choice, noting how ‘hard to please’ he could be during past relationships.

A source close to the Pussycat Dolls singer told The Sun: 'Lewis was the master of blowing hot and cold.

'One minute he would be buying her gifts and saying he loved her, the next he would cause an enormous argument and then ignore her for days.

'There was a real nasty streak. She would often be left in tears after rows with him.

'He seemed to be a lot more interested in hanging out with his "bros", than with his girlfriend.'
