Kim Kardashian has shed light on her involvement in a new biography written about her stratospheric rise to fame, previously unreported moments and cultural impact.
The book, Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, is an intimate portrayal of her life including interviews with Kim, written by journalist Jonathan Van Meter.
Kim revealed she had been working with Jonathan on the book for the past five years but claimed her mother Kris Jenner did not approve of the project.
The reality star said her momager was horrified that Kim did not get paid to speak to Jonathan and work on 'someone else's project' without benefiting financially.
However, hoping to prove her mother wrong, Kim said despite it being a 'little scary' because it's not her book, she trusts the author.
'It comes out in a week or two and I agreed to work with this writer to write a book about me,' she said speaking about the book on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
'It's a little scary because it's not my book. So, it's not like I have a say. I mean I could contribute and tell him and I want it to be accurate.'

In response to Jimmy's alarmed reaction, Kim said: 'Yeah. My mom had the same reaction.'
Jimmy replied: 'Your mom didn't want you to do it? Why didn't she want you to do it?'
Kim explained: 'Well, you'll see a lot on uh the Kardashians on Hulu. She interviewed with the guy multiple times and she just has like amnesia and you'll see.
'After she had done it and then she kind of like looked up and was like, "Wait, did you get paid for this and then when she realized I didn't and it's someone else's project?" Wow.'
'I know. Probably a bad decision, but we worked on it for five years together and I welcomed him in my home and interviewed me.'
Jimmy asked her if Kris will be secretly hoping she regrets the choice, and she said: 'Yeah. So that she could be right.'
'She wants her big like I told you so moment. But I do trust Jonathan and I do trust that he...'
Kim then went on to discuss the impact reading his words had on her, and said: 'You know what? I read a copy and like I cried after a chapter because I thought it was told so well in a way that I've never seen myself or ever noticed that about my life.'

'And okay. All right. I think that was, you know, I think hopefully if my mom takes the time to read it, she'll get over it.'
Elsewhere during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel, Kim updated the host on her attempts to become a lawyer and confessed to having snooped on family friend OJ Simpson when she was just 14.
Kim was back in the US for the late-night show taping just days after she travelled to reunite with her boyfriend Lewis Hamilton at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Jimmy opened the segment with an update on her attempts to pass the bar exam, which segued into how her father, Robert Kardashian, became famous for representing his longtime friend, OJ Simpson.
She recalled how surreal it was as a teenager to see wall-to-wall coverage about Simpson's murder trial on television, only to come home and get an unfiltered front-row view of the legal wrangling.
Kim even confessed to being so inspired by coverage of the investigation into Simpson that she decided to do some digging of her own – by rummaging through his luggage while he was staying in her sister Khloe Kardashian's room.
'I just was so into it, and I saw everything from behind the scenes,' she said.
'After it had all happened, OJ came to stay with my dad at the house,' Kim explained.
'He had this Louis Vuitton luggage and brought it into the house,' she recalled. 'And I see everything on the news, but I see it in real life at my house, so I'm like, "I'm going to play investigator, and I want to go through his luggage and see if I can find anything!"'
But after opening up Simpson's bags and examining the contents, Kim panicked when she went back downstairs and saw a news report about investigators' plan to seize Simpson's bags.
'I'm like, "Oh my God, my fingerprints are all over it!"' Kim recounted to laughter from the audience.

But Kim concluded by explaining how her fear of being implicated helped inspire her to try to become a lawyer decades later.
'It made me realize: people can be involved that aren't involved. And I need to help them,' she said to applause.
But Jimmy still couldn't get over how close she came to such a controversial figure like Simpson.
'There's a book about it!' she jokingly interjected, referencing Simpson's alleged tell-all, If I Did It, which was ghostwritten by Pablo Fenjves.
The book's planned release was cancelled in 2006, but the following year the rights to it were awarded in bankruptcy court to the family of Ron Goldman, who was stabbed to death along with Simpson's ex-wife Nicole Brown on June 12, 1994.
The revived book was published with the added subtitle 'Confessions of the Killer'.
Jimmy joked that he hoped her mother had been wrong about Simpson if he was staying in Khloe's room, referencing her admissions that she had suspicions that he might have killed Goldman and Brown, who was her friend.
'I will always feel guilty that I didn't pay more attention and didn't speak up when I thought anything was wrong or asked her more, "Do you want to talk about it?" Jenner said in 2015 in an interview for the documentary The Secret Tapes of the O.J. Case: The Untold Story.
Citizen Kim will be serialised in the Daily Mail from 11am tomorrow.
