Keri Russell, 48, doesn't 'remember other relationships' after romancing partner Matthew Rhys for 'so long'

They famously fell in love with while together on the hit show The Americans — and it has turned out to be a lasting relationship between stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys.

So much so that Keri, 48, has said that she doesn't 'remember other relationships' before meeting Matthew, 49. 

The actress told People: 'It can be a really nice shorthand because they know what work is to you, but it can also feel a lot at times,' she said on Tuesday of dating a fellow actor. 

'But it can be a nice to have someone who does something completely different so that there's like a break. But I've been with Matthew for so long, I don't remember other relationships,' she joked. 

Russell was previously married to Shane Deary, with whom she shares two children and dated actors Scott Speedman and Tony Lucca.

The actress spoke openly about the complexities of relationships using her on-screen romance with Rufus Sewell — who acts as her husband on Netflix's The Diplomat — as an example. 

She said of the political drama series: 'This season, it feels kind of heartbreaking.

'It feels very mature and like the realities of knowing somebody for so long. But as far as Kate and Hal, there is not one without the other. It's so enmeshed that it is a part of their attraction.'

Russell and Rhys were first linked back in 2002 after meeting at a mutual friend's kickball party, where the English actor drunkenly asked for her cell number. However, nothing sparked from the gesture at the time. 

In 2012, the pair reconnected on the set of FX series The Americans — acting as husband and wife KGB spies.

Two years later, rumors swirled of their romance after appearing in a GQ photoshoot together and looking loved-up at a New York City play in January 2014. 

In May of 2016, they welcomed their first child together, a son named Sam, who is now aged eight. 

Russell shares Willa, 13, and River, 16 with Deary. The exes went their separate ways in 2013, six years after saying 'I do'.

Her humorous chat comes after her bombshell admission claiming she got 'hot and heavy' with Rhys in late 2013 as their on-screen chemistry while filming The Americans blossomed into a real-life love affair.

The Golden Globe winner gushed to Variety: 'I was in love with Matthew. We were, like, hot and heavy in love, shooting the spy stuff at night in disguises and wigs.'

'I mean, it was such a fun, sexy time. So fun, oh my gosh,' the starlet unashamedly proclaimed. 

The Americans aired for six seasons from January 30, 2013, to May 30, 2018.

The hit drama followed undercover spies (played by Russell and Rhys) who are in an arranged marriage and pose as every-day civilians living in Washington, D.C., after Ronald Reagan's election. The duo skillfully balanced their work duties and being parents, all while hiding their true identities from their two children.

After nearly a decade together, Russell and Rhys have not yet publicly announced any plans to wed.
