Kelly Stafford Shares Update on Kids' Hospitalization Ahead of Husband Matthew Stafford’s Game

Matthew Stafford is an MVP in more than just the NFL.

The Los Angeles Rams Quarterback is also his family’s MVP. His wife Kelly Stafford and their 8-year-old twins Sawyer and Chandler, Hunter, 7, and Tyler, 5, made that sentiment clear as they joined him at the NFL Honors ceremony to see him take home one of the league’s most coveted awards.

The quarterback's daughters looked like quadruplets in their matching long black gowns, which boasted silver, mesh long-sleeves. The twins wore their hair down to show off their cascading curls while Hunter and Tyler opted for updos. The girls’ outfits looked especially fabulous when their dad brought them on stage to help him accept his MVP award followed by a glam family outing at Raising Cane’s for some chicken fingers.

But it was during the ceremony that fans got a sweet glimpse into Matthew’s family life. During the acceptance speech, he thanked his fellow teammates and coach Sean McVay before addressing his “favorite people in the world,” starting with his wife of over ten years.

“Kelly, you’re unbelievable. What you do for our family, the way you support me, the way you support these kids,” Matthew gushed. “Shoot, they got guys in the audience tonight [who] know how she supported everybody that’s involved in my life and she’s my rock. I want to let you know the sacrifices. I see you, I love you, I appreciate you very much.”

Then the 37-year-old turned his attention to his girls beside him.

“And to my four beautiful daughters, who I’m lucky enough to be sharing the stage with. Chandler, Sawyer, Hunter, Tyler—give it up for them!” he exclaimed. “I’m so happy to be able to teach you the blessings and lessons of this game to you guys, through you guys. You’re unbelievable cheerleaders for me, I appreciate it. I am so happy to have you guys at the games on the sidelines with me and I can’t wait for you to cheer me on next year when we’re out there kickin’ ass.”

Indeed, Matthew’s kids are consistently on the sidelines to cheer him on. They were most recently at the NFC championship game, which decided who would play the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl on Feb. 8. The face-off had an unfortunate ending for the Rams, who lost to the Seattle Seahawks, 31-27.

Although the athlete was incredibly disappointed about the loss, he turned it into a teachable moment with his kids.

“My daughter was crying after the game in my arms and saying, ‘Dad, I feel so bad for you,’” Matthew recalled during the Jan. 26 episode of his Let’s Go! podcast. “And I told her, ‘You know what, don’t feel bad for me. My life is a blessing. I get to play this game. I’ve gotten to play it for 17 years. I got four little girls that are cheering me on, a beautiful wife that’s doing the same.’”
