EXCLUSIVE: Following the Sundance premiere of her latest film, Rock Springs, where she stars alongside Jimmy O. Yang and Benedict Wong, Kelly Marie Tran has signed with Gersh for representation in all areas.

In the horror flick marking the feature debut of writer-director Vera Miao, Tran plays a grieving woman who moves to an isolated house in a new town following the death of her husband, only to discover there is something monstrous hidden in the town’s history. As Miao explained in a recent appearance at Deadline’s Sundance Studio, the indie emerged from “a fully formed question that popped in my head… can I explore diaspora through horror?” The film also draws major inspiration from the Rock Springs Massacre of 1885, a notorious outbreak of anti-Chinese violence in the American West, in which at least 28 Chinese coal miners were killed by their white counterparts.

Tran broke out with her turn as Rose Tico in Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi and Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, becoming the first woman of color cast in a leading role in the Star Wars franchise, with her role opposite Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Adam Driver. Subsequently, she reprised the role in the animated series Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, Star Wars Forces of Destiny and LEGO Star Wars: All Stars, as well as film specials including Lego Star Wars: Summer Vacation and The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special.

Tran later broke further ground as the first Southeast Asian actress cast in a starring role in a Disney animated feature, with her performance in the Academy Award-nominated Raya and the Last Dragon. Additional credits for the actress include starring in Netflix’s Sweet Tooth, Bleecker Street’s The Wedding Banquet, Hulu’s Control Freak, and Jing Ai Ng’s Forge, which premiered at SXSW 2025.

Tran continues to be represented by 1v1 Entertainment, 2PM Sharp and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.
