Katherine Ryan shared her hilarious take on motherhood as she described it as a 'scam' and joked it's best to have 'one and done'.

The comedian, 43, has four children- Violet, 17, from a previous relationship, and Fred, three, Fenna, two, and Holland Juliette, 11months, with her childhood sweetheart Bobby Koostra, whom she married in 2019.

However the star joked on Wednesday that she wished she had stopped at 'one chic daughter' as she gave parenting advice to father-to-be Will Best.

Appearing on his Hits Radio show with co-host Fleur East, Katherine said: 'You know, it's none of my business, but I would say one and done is very chic. One chic daughter.

'If I just had my 17-year-old daughter, I could be in Miami today. I could be anywhere. I could be free. But instead, I've chosen the scam that is motherhood.

'It's a scam. I love the children, but like, yeah.'

Katherine Ryan has said her daughter Violet, 17, treats her like 'garbage' as she joked it's best to have 'one and done' in a hilarious parenting chat on Hits Radio on Wednesday

The comedian, 43, said she wished she had stopped at 'one chic daughter' as she gave parenting advice to father-to-be Will Best (pictured with her daughter Violet in February)

And while Will suggested that it must be nice once your children grow up to have a 'little gang to support you', Katherine hit back that her 17-year-old treats her like 'garbage'.

She explained: 'People think when they set out to have a baby. But I also have the reference point of a living 17-year-old who treats me like garbage.

'She's not as bad as some 17-year-olds, but everything that I do puts her off. I was sending a voice note to my agent the other day, and I said, "Hey, lady, and I could hear Violet from another room in the house be like, "Ew!"

'Everything, everything, and I know that that's part of it. And actually, biology sets it up so that these daughters, if you had children when I did, these daughters reach puberty when we are sort of almost reaching perimenopause, and it just comes to blows emotionally, and that's how they leave the nest.'

Will replied: 'Oh, I see, because they like you give them the ick so bad, they have to go. Give them the ick.'

Back in July, Katherine caused shockwaves by admitting she 'has a favourite child'.

Speaking on Davina McCall's Begin Again podcast, she shocked fans when she admitted she favours Violet above her other three children.

When pushed on why she felt that way, she explained that she deemed her younger children 'nepobabies' as they had grown up with the privileges born of her success, such as a private education, while Violet had missed out on these.

Additionally, the absence of Violet's father, which Katherine has frequently discussed including on her podcast Telling Everybody Everything and stand-up specials, was one of the factors that pushed Violet up the list.

The star has four children- Violet, 17, from a previous relationship, and Fred, three, Fenna, two, and Holland Juliette, 11months, with her husband Bobby Koostra, whom she married in 2019

Speaking to Davina, she said: 'Violet's my favourite, she's my first born. I think people don't like that, they think it's a provocative thing to say...

'I don't worry about it hurting the other kids' feelings because I go, guess what, those are nepobabies, Violet is my favourite. You get to go to private school, you get to grow up with a dad, that's not fair, she's my favourite...

'I mean that makes sense in a way doesn't it, they have privileges she doesn't'.

The comments received backlash from followers of the podcast on Facebook, with one user writing: 'Seriously - or maybe she’s joking (as I understand she is in comedy)… but if serious - Good luck when they grow up...

'Telling one of your children is your favourite has long lasting effects on the others...

'The others will feel they are not good enough which will feed into their future relationships. The favourite one will have more confidence but may experience a level of guilt. Words can cut sharper than knives. (I’m still hopeful she’s just joking).'

Another user echoed the feelings, writing: 'I felt really sad listening to this. Nepo babies can still be deeply hurt and damaged irreparably by their Mothers'.

Agreeing further, a viewer penned: 'Mm as a mother I do not like that at all, even if it's true. Stuff like this can be really emotionally damaging and as their mum it's up to you to protect them not to just say "life isn't fair"...
