Katey Sagal celebrates 40 years of sobriety with moving message… after revealing she started drinking and using drugs when she was 15

Married with Children alum Katey Sagal impressively celebrated '40 years of continuous sobriety' on Saturday night after she started drinking and using drugs when she was 15.

The 72-year-old Golden Globe winner - who boasts 2.6 million social media followers - shared an Instagram slideshow of her alcohol- and drug-free festivities featuring a large cake, cookies and flower bouquets.

Sagal said she felt 'beyond grateful' to be 'surrounded by like-minded friends' on the milestone, writing: 'It's a wonderful life.'

In the comments section, the Futurama star's eldest child, Sarah Grace White, posted a red-heart emoji and wrote: 'Love you.'

Sagal was joined by the 32-year-old nepo baby and her 30-year-old son Jackson from her six-year marriage to second husband Jack White, as well as her 19-year-old daughter Esme, whom she welcomed via surrogate with third husband Kurt Sutter.

The LA native gushed that her children were the 'three loves of my life' and she called the 66-year-old Abandons showrunner 'amazing' for all of his support over their 21-year marriage.

Sagal and Sutter, who began dating in 2002, are co-founders of the motorcycle roadwear clothing brand, Skull Petal.

The Khorus Harmonia singer also received congratulatory comments from Audrina Patridge, Robert Patrick, Lisa Ling, Jaimie Alexander, Annabeth Gish and her former onscreen son David Faustino, who wrote: 'Great times! And congrats again Katey.'

The Daily Mail has reached out to Sagal's representative for comment but did not immediately hear back.

'I'm a person that for probably the first 30 years of my life, didn't deal with s***t. I medicated myself to where I didn't really deal with my emotions,' the One Piece star told the MeSsy podcast last year.

'My parents died, I had cancer in my 20s... I mean, a bunch of s*** happened and I didn't really deal with it. Then I stopped medicating myself, and now I have no choice but to deal with it.'

Sagal continued: 'The brave part of living a sober life is that life's f***ing terrifying. And you got to look at it. What I have found around community, around all that, is I know lots of people that have walked through everything I've walked through. The opposite of addiction is community.'

The Trust actress currently voices one-eyed mutant captain Turanga Leela in the 11th season of Matt Groening's sci-fi animated sitcom Futurama, which resumes next Sunday on Hulu.

Sagal's upcoming projects include Rachel Lambert's romantic drama Carousel, Elizabeth Banks's untitled comedy series for Apple TV and Kari Lizer's untitled sitcom pilot for NBC.

The Hollywood Walk of Famer is best known for her role as Peggy Bundy in Michael G Moye and Ron Leavitt's irreverent sitcom Married... with Children, which aired for 11 seasons on Fox spanning 1987-1997.

Sagal also starred in sitcoms like ABC's Rebel, Showtime's Shameless, CBS' Superior Donuts, FX's The Bastard Executioner, NBC's A to Z, FX's Sons of Anarchy, ABC's Boston Legal, ABC's 8 Simple Rules and CBS' Mary.

It probably didn't hurt the CalArts dropout's career to have a godfather like the late Norman Lear, who produced/created hit sitcoms such as All in the Family, Maude, Sanford and Son, One Day at a Time, The Jeffersons and Good Times.

Sagal - who pulls 81,713 monthly listeners on Spotify - originally kicked off her career as a backup singer for artists like Bob Dylan, Bette Midler, Gene Simmons and Tanya Tucker.
