In Song Sung Blue, Kate stars opposite Hugh Jackman, as real life married couple Mike and Claire Sardina, who started a Neil Diamond cover band in 1990s Milwaukee.
And she was revealed to be up for the Leading Actress gong at the 2026 awards, as the nominations were announced on Tuesday morning.

Taking to her Instagram to voice her gratitude and joy, Kate shared hilarious footage of her getting the news of her nod, while sat down at a restaurant.
The clip showed the Bride Wars star squealing in shock and repeatedly exclaiming 'Oh my God!' as she leapt to her feet and raced out of the dining room to answer her phone.
While in the caption, she shared her thanks to BAFTA and explained that the nomination felt like 'a love letter', because she and her family had always seen England as a 'real home'.
Kate penned: 'BAFTA! Thank you! I am so honored to be nominated ❤️ England has always been a real home for me and my family so this nomination feels like a love letter back to a place that’s given us so much. See you soon London Town.'
Alongside, the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star posted a slew of throwback snaps of her children exploring the capital.
Kate is mum to son Ryder, 21, with ex-husband and Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson, son Bingham, 14, with ex-fiance and Muse singer Matt Bellamy, and daughter Rani, seven, with her current fiance Danny Fujikawa.
It marks her second BAFTA nod, coming 25 years after she was first nominated for her performance as Penny Lane in Almost Famous.
This year Kate is facing off in a formidable category including frontrunner Jessie Buckley as William Shakespeare's wife in Chloe Zhao's biopic Hamnet.

And it comes just days after it was announced that she is also up for the Academy Award for Best Actress, where she will once again be competing against Jessie, Rose, Renate and Emma.
Days after its success in the Academy Award nominations, One Battle After Another earned the most nods at this year's BAFTAs with 14, including one for lead star Leonardo DiCaprio.
