Kate Garraway collapses in a fit of giggles as she's caught sneaking back into the GMB studio mid-interview after a desperate dash to the loo

Kate Garraway collapsed in a fit of giggles as she was caught trying to sneak back into the GMB studio on Thursday's show. 

The broadcaster, 59, was presenting the show with Adil Ray and during the commercial break had attempted to nip to the loo. 

Yet unfortunately her toilet break was mistimed, with Kate forced to try and creep back onto the sofa while Adil was interviewing Strictly's Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu about their time on Celebrity Hunted. 

A package flashed up on the screen showing their time on the show when Amy suddenly trailed off and a slight commotion was heard. 

Amy then exclaimed: 'Oh, good morning!' as the camera cut back to Kate sliding onto the sofa. 

Looking flustered, Kate responded: 'I'm so sorry... I took a little bit too long in the shower, in the loo,' before bursting into hysterical laughter.

Rolling his eyes in mock annoyance, Adil interjected: 'She hasn't heard about the drought and the short showers! It's alright, we're here now.'

Amid the UK's ongoing heatwave, almost half of England has been placed in drought. 

Some areas have not seen rain in 43 days and temperatures soared again to 34C on Wednesday. 

The seven areas declared to be in drought are London and Hertfordshire - where the GMB offices are based - the Thames Valley, East Anglia, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Devon and Cornwall, the West Midlands, and Wessex (covering Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire and south Gloucestershire). 

After Kate's interruption, talk then returned to Amy and Carlos' stint on Celebrity Hunted, which sees stars attempt to 'go on the run' for 21 days whilst avoiding a team of Hunters composed of police officers, intelligence personnel, and on-foot teams.

Discussing the challenge, Amy shared: 'It's really hard, and the only break you get from one another is when you go to the bathroom.

'For us, we kept saying, "this is harder than Strictly," it's so intense!', as Carlos agreed, saying: '100 percent harder than dancing.'

Insisting that they didn't get any help along the way, Amy went on: 'You have your film crew with you but unfortunately for us, we did make a plan but Carlos forgot to delete it from his phone so the hunters were onto us.'

Yet Amy said she had no regrets about taking part because the show was made in conjunction with the Stand Up To Cancer fundraising campaign, a cause Amy - who battled breast cancer - said is 'very close to my heart'.

Talk then turned to the upcoming series of Strictly, which is set for a shakeup with Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe replacing longstanding hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. 

Yet Amy insisted that the show itself is not set to be shaken up, as she shared: 'The format of the show is not changing.'

'I'm a fan of the show, I've grown up watching it so it's so surreal to have been a part of it and I'm so proud to be a part of it whilst they've been introducing new presenters.

'What we all love is the competition side, and at the end of the night, we're all talking about the best numbers, who improved the most, who might be at risk and that is the heart of the show. 'I'm just so excited.'

Celebrity Hunted returns Monday August 3 at 9pm on Channel 4.
