Karl Stefanovic has been roasted online 'for crying on a yacht with a tan in the Med' following his chat with British journalist Piers Morgan, in the wake of his departure from the Today show.
The 51-year-old broke down in tears on Wednesday's episode of his podcast, The Karl Stefanovic Show, as he commiserated with Morgan about his exit from Channel Nine after two decades at the network.
The interview took place aboard the 56-metre Italian superyacht Taiba, a floating palace complete with a swimming pool and cinema that costs approximately $500,000 a week to charter, plus expenses.
Sitting aboard the luxury yacht in France, Morgan asked how Stefanovic was coping with the fallout from his high-profile departure from Today, which came following backlash over an interview with British far-right activist Tommy Robinson.
Stefanovic struggled to speak and fought tears as he discussed the impact events were having on his family.
However, viewers were not impressed by Stefanovic's emotional display, with many sniping that his claim to be struggling was undermined by the fact that he was relaxing on a luxury yacht that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to rent out.

The former Today show host broke down in tears on Wednesday's episode of his podcast, The Karl Stefanovic Show, as he commiserated with Morgan about his exit from the network that he'd called home for two decades
'Devastating... But thankfully he's making himself feel better by sailing around Europe,' one person sniped.
'Stop your crying Stefanovic, it's called "choices". You are already an incredibly wealthy man and have chosen making mega bucks over being with your family. Own it,' a second added.
'It's okay Karl, I'm sure you will be able to survive on the millions of dollars you have,' a third chimed in.
'You know exactly what you are doing Karlos, stop the crocodile tears,' someone else wrote.
In the interview with Morgan, the former TV presenter spoke about the impact recent events were having on his wife Jasmine.
'She puts up with a lot. Her finding out this stuff and having to deal with me, because I'm a lot,' he said.
'I really do work hard and I'm away a bit, and she knows what I'm trying to do with this podcast. So I'm doing this, and some radio, I'm doing it for the family, but she's on her own a lot.

'And for me to hear her upset, it was the hardest thing.'
The television host also said he feared losing his bond with the Australian public, which he has built over 21 years of appearing on breakfast TV.
Stefanovic explained: 'I can go into any place around Australia from Broome to Cairns to Launceston. I walk into a pub and every time someone yells out, 'F***ing Karlos! Get a beer up ya!'
'That bond for me, with real Australian people, is something that I don't take for granted. It's a great privilege, and it really is a great honour. I just don't want to lose that and that is a little bit of what I worry about.'
Morgan told Stefanovic that he should be 'allowed to interview whoever he wants' and encouraged him to stand up to 'the woke wastrels' and 'stand up to mob rule'.
The veteran presenter told Stefanovic that while he 'doesn't like' Tommy Robinson, he endorses the decision to platform him and said that the interview was 'absolutely appropriate'.
It comes after news that Stefanovic's latest media venture has come to an abrupt end, with ARN dropping him from the radio show, The Long Weekend, which he co-hosted alongside Eddie McGuire.
It's a fresh blow to Stefanovic after it was confirmed he had left the Today show and Channel Nine last week following his interview with commentator Tommy Robinson on his own podcast, The Karl Stefanovic Show.
