Julia Roberts' husband Daniel Moder makes rare public declaration of love to mark Oscar winner's 59th birthday

Julia Roberts celebrated her 59th birthday on Wednesday, and her husband Daniel Moder marked the occasion with a gushing tribute.

Taking to social media, the cinematographer, 57, shared a throwback photo of himself and the Oscar-winner at one of her past birthday parties.

Roberts was captured  standing in front of a cake adorned with lit candles while Moder stood behind her, staring at the star in admiration and kissing her shoulder.

'celebrating everyday… but October 28 the most. more candles bring more joy. love you so much,' he penned in the post's caption.

Roberts showed her affection for Moder in the comment section by leaving a string of party-themed and pink heart emojis.

The couple, who have been married for 24 years, first met on set of the 2001 crime comedy film, The Mexican, in which Roberts starred opposite Brad Pitt.

At the time, he was married to makeup artist Vera Steimberg, and she was in a relationship with actor Benjamin Bratt. 

She split from Bratt in 2001, and he finalized his divorce from Steimberg in early 2002. 

'He sorted his whole thing out, separate and apart from me,' Roberts told O, The Oprah Magazine in December 2003.

'And I sorted my life out, separate and apart from him. I think that's the only reason we were able to ultimately fall in love with each other and be together.' 

Roberts and Moder got married at her 82-acre ranch in Taos, New Mexico on July 4, 2002. 

This past summer, the longtime couple celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary. 

To honor the milestone in July, Roberts posted a selfie with her husband as they posed in matching sunglasses and rested their heads on each other. 

Alongside red, white and blue emojis, she wrote in her caption: 'TWENTY FOUR. MORE MORE MORE.' 

The couple are parents to three children: 21-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus as well as son Henry, 19.

Back in 2018, Roberts made rare comments about their marriage and gushed about her husband. 

'Getting married to Danny. That was the first, like, my life will never be the same in the most incredible, indescribable way,' she said while making an appearance on Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop podcast at the time.

'The best decision I ever made in my entire life was to hitch my wagon to Danny Moder.' 

'He's my favorite person on the planet, so I love spending time with him and I love his work ethic,' she told People about collaborating with him on Secret in Her Eyes in November 2015. 

'His point of view is really valuable to me,' she added.
