Judge Dredd is one of the more fascinating sci-fi dystopian series ever created. The original comic line was a massive success, which in turn led to a disastrous Sylvester Stallone vehicle, and a very good (but underperforming) 2012 action film starring Karl Urban. It's had its ups and downs, even hosting several video games with the character, and we haven't seen the last of him.

Multiple projects are in development across movies and TV, and even if they never see the light of day, Dredd will return in some fashion. Now, thanks to confirmation on YouTube, we know that Judge Dredd is returning this fall.

Later this year, the classic 1993 pinball table Judge Dredd is coming to Pinball FX, Pinball FX Midnight, and Pinball FX VR. While it doesn't have an exact release date yet, "fall" is the current target.

It does exactly what it says on the tin, according to Zen Studios: "Step into the dystopian streets of Mega-City One with Judge Dredd, Bally's pinball classic from 1993. Based on the iconic comic book series, this fast-paced table puts you behind the badge of the most respected - and feared - lawman, as you battle crime, restore order, and bring justice to the chaos."

As one fan notes, this is something people have wanted for a long time: "Oh man, I am so happy. Judge Dredd and Bram Stoker's Dracula are two of my favorite tables, so I've been waiting for this ever since Zen got the Williams license."

Bally Manufacturing's Judge Dredd pinball table became legendary after its '90s launch. It even included a promotional comic, two distinct modes, and additional missions (stopping crimes) to solve. Beyond the general dystopian Dredd theme, ithad a little more going on under the hood. Now you can play a digital recreation whenever you want.

Sadly, Dredd was mostly lost to time over decades, leaving fans at the mercy of those who had an actual table. While it came out in several digital formats since release, the main one, via Pinball Arcade, was cut for licensing reasons. Now, it's going to be widely available once again, so everyone can enjoy this '90s classic.

If you're a Judge Dredd fan, whether it's the original comic or either of the two feature films, you owe it to yourself to test out this table. I've had the pleasure of trying it out several times in person, and the art really pops.
