Jude Law's tangled web of showbiz connections through his former flames and seven children - as fans are stunned to learn his link to Jorginho

He's been with his wife Phillipa Coan for more than a decade, with the happily married pair sharing two children and enjoying a life of privacy.

Yet there was a time that Jude Law, 53, was as well known for his love life as his esteemed career, with the twice-married father-of-seven's relationship history a tale that could've made a follow up to his flop film, Alfie.

This week, Jude's romantic past made headlines once again when his name was dragged into an unlikely row with Gen-Z icon Chappell Roan.

On Saturday, Jorginho complained about the popstar, alleging her security team left his 11-year-old daughter Ada in tears after 'aggressively' reprimanding the youngster for walking past Chappell's table and looking at her.

After the post went viral, fans were stunned to learn that Jorginho's stepdaughter is the biological child of Jude - who had a short-lived fling with the Brazilian footballer's wife Catherine Harding in the Noughties.

Taking to X/Twitter, fans were surprised to discover the link between football and acting royalty, tweeting: 'Jude Laws daughter is Jorginho’s step daughter? What a world';

'I was today years old when I found out Jorginho’s stepdaughter is Jude Law’s daughter, which is Trent Alexander-Arnold’s ex girlfriend’s sister.'

Indeed, twice-married father-of-seven Jude's love life is a complicated one.

On the weekend fans were shocked to learn that Jorginho is the stepfather of Jude's daughter Ava after the footballer married Jude's ex Catherine Harding (pictured together this week)

His first high profile romance came when he was just 19, meeting and instantly falling for Sadie Frost after playing love interests in 1994 crime film, Shopping.

The couple were seen as love's young dream, with Sadie - who is five years Jude's senior - by his side as he rose through the ranks of fame.

By the time Jude had gained international recognition in 1999's The Talented Mr. Ripley, he and Sadie had been married for two years and were parents to son Rafferty.

The following year they welcomed daughter Iris and 2002 saw the birth of their son Rudy.

However, as Jude's star power continued to rise and Sadie was gripped by post-natal depression, the pair began to grow distant.

'Jude was away a lot, while I was sitting on the sofa, getting fatter and gripped by a nagging sense that I was jeopardising my love', Sadie penned in her 2010 autobiography, Crazy Days, admitting that she 'pressed the self-destruct button.'

Sadie penned: 'The more in demand Jude was professionally, the more of a drama queen I became. As he matured into a man, I started to act more like a child. We were living on a knife edge, but we made it work because of Rafferty.'

She admitted that she struggled with the comparison of their careers, writing: 'The more I worried about my condition, the more self-obsessed I became and the less attention I gave to Jude.

'Jude was up for lots more roles and I was still feeling low, struggling to hold the relationship together, feeling threatened.'

Things came to a head when they flew to Los Angeles to attend the Golden Globes, with Sadie revealing she turned to Jude and asked simply 'do you love me?'

She recalled: 'He didn't need to reply - I knew the answer. The moment had arrived and I knew the relationship with the man I loved was over.'

The couple, who were well known for being part of the Primrose Hill Set, split in October 2003.

Yet while the trappings of fame played a part in their six-year marriage coming to an end, that hasn't stopped their children from following in their footsteps.

Rafferty, 29, first made a name for himself as a model, walking for DKNY as a teenager and working with the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino and Mulberry.

Later Rafferty - who is the godson of Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw - pivoted to acting.

He first appeared in The Hat alongside his dad Jude - a short film that was shot on an iPhone during the Covid lockdowns.

Rafferty then landed the lead role of Oliver Twist in 2021's Twist, a modern re-telling of the Dickens tale that also starred Michael Caine and Rita Ora.

That same year he appeared in the Apple TV+ series Masters of the Air.

His younger sister Iris, 25, has also made a name for herself in the acting and modelling worlds.

Iris also has a connection to the football world, having dated Trent John Alexander-Arnold for five moths in 2024.

While the pair got on well, the romance came to an end because of their busy schedules, with friends remarking that 'being a Wag was never really going to be her bag.'

In another link between the showbiz and football worlds, a fact about Trent went viral this week - after fans discovered an old quote in former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson's autobiography.

In the tome, Sir Alex revealed that he dated Trent's maternal grandmother in the Fifties.

He described Doreen as his 'first steady girlfriend' and revealed they were together for about 18 months during their teenage years in Glasgow before Doreen moved to New York.

As for Iris, she is best known for her work on the catwalk, having learnt from her godmother Kate Moss, starring in campaigns for  Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney and Versace.

Her acting debut came in 2022 when she was cast as Soo Catwoman in the miniseries Pistol.

It is not known if Rudy, 23, has any famous godparents but like his siblings he has also dipped his toe into the acting world, landing roles in 2013's Dotty - a short film in which he appeared with his mother - and 2023's Into the Pass.

Jude has a strong bond with his eldest children, with the esteemed actor giving them tips on how to succeed in the industry.

After his divorce was Sadie was finalised, Jude entered into a relationship with Sienna Miller - who he met on the set of Alfie - a remake of the 1996 Michael Caine film about a playboy who ends up regretting his decision to burn through women.

Following a whirlwind romance, the couple got engaged on Christmas Day in 2004 after nearly a year of dating.

Yet the relationship came crashing down in 2006 after his affair with his children's nanny Daisy Wright came to public knowledge the year prior.

In his public apology to Sienna, Jude said: 'Following the reports in today's papers, I just want to say I am deeply ashamed and upset that I've hurt Sienna and the people most close to us.

'I want to publicly apologise to Sienna and our respective families for the pain that I have caused. There is no defence for my actions which I sincerely regret and I ask that you respect our privacy at this very difficult time.'

Sienna later said the scandal was 'really hard', and admitted: 'There’s a whole six weeks of that experience that I don’t remember. I have no recollection of it.

Reflecting on starring in As You Like It at the time, she continued: 'That was one of the most challenging moments I hope I'll ever have to experience.

'Because with that level of public heartbreak, to have to get out of a bed let alone stand in front of 800 people every night, it's just the last thing you want to do. I was in so much shock over it all.'

However, the pair reconnected in late 2009 when they both starred on Broadway, with Sienna even spending Christmas with Jude and three of his children in Barbados.

Yet the romance wasn't meant to be and they broke up once again in February 2011.

In 2024, Jude briefly reflected on their engagement, stating: 'That time is over, and I've moved on from it. And so has, fortunately, the attention of the photographers and the prying eyes on me.'

Before Jude reconciled with Sienna he had a brief romance with model Samantha Burke while he was filming Sherlock Holmes in 2008

Before Jude reconciled with Sienna he had a brief romance with model Samantha Burke while he was filming Sherlock Holmes in 2008.

Samantha told Hello of their relationship: 'I ran into Jude in a nightclub one night.

'I instantly knew who he was, but he seemed really funny; he was cracking jokes with people and he included me in that.

'The next thing I knew I was on the pavement outside, being twirled around – it was a lot of fun.

'Following that initial meeting, Jude and I went out several times. He was a lot of fun to be around, always making me laugh and smile.'

The couple had already split when she discovered she was pregnant and Samantha welcomed their daughter Sophia in 2009.

At the time Jude's team released a statement that read: 'Jude Law can confirm that, following a relationship last year, he has been advised that he is to be the father of a child due in the fall of this year.

'Mr. Law is no longer in a relationship with the individual concerned but he intends to be a fully supportive part of the child's life.'

Ahead of Sophia's birth, Samantha's lawyer told PEOPLE that Jude had 'been responsive and supportive throughout the relationship and pregnancy'.

Little is known about Sophia, 16, who lives a private life out of the spotlight with her mother.

In 2014, it emerged that Jude was expecting his fifth child, this time with aspiring actress and singer Catherine Harding after they enjoyed a brief fling while Jude was filming on location in the Czech Republic.

At the time, Jude was 41 and Catherine was 23, with a rep for the actor stating: ‘I can confirm that Jude Law and Catherine Harding are expecting a child together in the spring.

'While they are no longer in a relationship, they are both wholeheartedly committed to raising their child.’

Catherine welcomed their daughter Ada in 2015 and said after the birth:  'She looks like Jude massively, she doesn't look like me.

'Jude is really funny and sweet. I remember last week he came over and he had to change her on the park bench. He cleaned her all up.

'He is a good dad and she sees her brothers and sisters. He takes her out all the time.

'The birth was really painful, I only wanted my mum there, it was a C-section, it was really horrible. But he came straight after and was really amazing.'

In 2019, Catherine began dating footballer Jorginho, with the couple tying the knot and following year and then welcoming son Jax, four.

Jorginho has also served as a doting stepfather to Ada, with the trio appearing on Prime Video's Married To The Game, which follows the lives of the wives and girlfriends of renowned Premier League footballers.

On the show, Cat revealed Ada wants to pursue a career as an actress or singer and the doting mother revealed how she feels about her daughter's aspirations.

'It's really important for me that Ada follows her dreams, she's super creative and that's clearly the route she's going down,' Cat said.

'But I do get nervous because I know how the music industry is, it's risky, so I'm a bit conflicted.

'But it was really lovely to watch her doing the acting lesson, and she's just had a big audition, actually, so it's very exciting.'

Cat said she has done her best to inform Ada about the risks of acting, including dealing with rejection, as she discussed the challenging career path.

'We've explained to her that she has to be super prepared for a lot of rejection, but that she should take every audition as a learning experience and not let it affect her or knock her confidence,' she went on.

It is believed the family currently live in Brazil, where Jorginho plays for Campeonato Brasileiro Série A club Flamengo.

On the weekend, the footballer was praised by fans for speaking out in defence of his stepdaughter and bringing the alleged altercation with Chappell Roan's security team to global attention.

Chappell has since said she was not aware of the incident and the security guard in question was not part of her personal detail.

Jude has not commented publicly on the incident.

The British actor is believed to split his time between the UK and States with his wife Phillipa, 39, a psychologist who he began dating in 2015.

He rarely comments on their relationship, but it is known the couple married at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London in 2019 – three months after the actor announced their engagement.

A year later, Jude announced he had welcomed their first child together - his six.

When asked what he's been up amid pandemic quarantine, Jude told Jimmy Fallon: 'I've been gardening. Oh! And on top of that I had a baby. So there you go.'

Jimmy said: 'Buried the lede, buried the lede on that one. Congrats, dad! That's awesome.'

The actor said 'it's really wonderful' and shared that he and his wife felt 'blessed that they could just nest as a family'.

Before the birth of his sixth child, Jude said he would ‘absolutely’ be open to having more offspring.

The Talented Mr Ripley actor said: ‘I love it, so absolutely why not? I’m very lucky to be involved with someone I’m madly in love with...

'The idea of having more children would be just wonderful. I’m fortunate to be with someone where I’m having more fun than I’ve ever had in my life.

‘We have an incredibly stable and healthy, wonderful family existence and that involves my kids who are young adults... and then the younger ones are just so much joy and so much fun.’

Staying true to his word, Jude and Phillipa then went on to have a second child together, bringing his total of offspring to seven.

The couple have not announced the names or gender of their children.

In 2024, Jude gave a rare insight into his 'very healthy relationship' with Phillipa, saying the pair have a strong marriage because 'we talk a lot about how we feel'.

Asked whether Phillipa influences the work he takes on, he told GQ: 'Yeah, I think so.

'Also Phil's a psychologist. So we enjoy a very healthy relationship where we talk a lot about how we feel, our relationships with friends, relationships with our families, and she has a wonderful perspective on all of that.

'I think one should, in middle age, start to reflect. What are the patterns I've created? What are the relationships I have? Why do I have them like that? How do I feel about them?'
