Jonathan Bennett Wants ‘Mean Girls’ Reunion With Lindsay Lohan & Lacey Chabert On Christmas Movie

From the Burn Book to the Naughty List, Jonathan Bennett is hoping to have a Mean Girls holiday reunion one of these years.

With Bennett, Lindsay Lohan and Lacey Chabert each leading their own Christmas projects this year, the Christmas on Cherry Lane actor recently floated the idea of reuniting on a holiday movie, 20 years after starring together in the Tina Fey-written, Mark Waters-directed teen comedy.

“I think what’s so special about the similarities between Mean Girls and Christmas movies is they both have a through line — and that through line is that all these movies make people happy,” he told People. “There’s a huge connection between the fan base of Mean Girls and the fan base of Christmas movies. These are people that want to turn on a movie and feel happier and walk away feeling better. I think that’s what these movies do.”

Bennett continued, “So to have Lindsay Lohan and Lacey Chabert and I all starring in different Christmas movies, I think is perfectly on brand and on target for what we like to do as actors and storytellers, which is bring joy to people, period. Now the question is, when do we get to combine it and do a movie for Christmas with Lacey Chabert, me and Lindsay Lohan? That’s what I’m looking for, because I think that would make so many people happy. Let’s do it.”

The interview comes as Bennett hosts the new Hallmark+ reality competition series Finding Mr. Christmas, helping to select the next Hallmark leading man after starring in several of the network’s holiday films himself. One such title is the new Hallmark+ release Season’s Greetings from Cherry Lane, a sequel to last year’s Christmas on Cherry Lane.

Meanwhile, Lohan and Chabert each have their own Netflix Christmas movies this year, both of which are also now streaming. In Our Little Secret, Lohan plays Avery, who has to spend the holidays under the same roof as her ex Logan (Ian Harding) after discovering their new significant others are siblings. Chabert leads Hot Frosty as Kathy, a widow who accidentally brings a snowman (Dustin Milligan) to life.

Mean Girls celebrated its 20th anniversary this April, following the feature film adaptation of the movie’s Broadway musical in January.
