EXCLUSIVE: Jon Beavers (Paradise, One Battle After Another) has been set to star opposite Emily Deschanel in the untitled one-hour written by Dean Georgaris and John Fox.
The project is inspired by the work of expert profiler and author Dr. Ann Burgess, subject of the 2024 Hulu docuseries Mastermind: To Think Like a Killer. It follows Professor Georgia Ryan (Deschanel), a trailblazing psychologist who challenges the field of criminology by shifting the investigative focus to the victim rather than just the perpetrator in order to uncover the crucial clues that more traditional methods leave behind. Alongside her team, this pioneering expert consults with the FBI to solve the most baffling and elusive cases.
Beavers will play Will Andover, who was the top profiler in his class at Quantico, but then he had a fall from grace. Now at a crossroads in his career, he desperately needs a win.
Georgaris executive produces alongside Davis Entertainment’s John Davis and Fox. Deschanel is a producer. Burgess is a consulting producer, as is Steven Constantine. Jennifer Morrison will direct the pilot. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, where Georgaris and Davis Entertainment have a long history, is the studio.
Beavers currently stars as Agent Billy Pace, opposite Sterling K. Brown, in the Hulu series Paradise, from creator Dan Fogelman. He will next be seen in Apple TV’s Being Heumann, from Siân Heder and starring opposite Mark Ruffalo. Previous TV roles include Apple’s Sugar, NatGeo’s The Long Road Home, TNT’s Animal Kingdom, Peacock’s Bel-Air and USA Network’s Briarpatch.
On the film side, Beavers appeared in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another with additional roles in Kevin Costner’s Horizon: Chapter 1 and Horizon: Chapter 2, Licorice Pizza, and Soft & Quiet. Beavers is repped by Artium Talent, Untitled Entertainment, and Gang, Tyre, Ramer.
