EXCLUSIVE: John Lee Hancock has added six to the cast of his new Netflix courtroom drama surrounding U.S. chemical company Monsanto: LaKeith Stanfield (Roofman), Julia McDermott (who also stars in the streamer’s upcoming film The 99’ers), David Duchovny (See You When I See You), Melonie Diaz (Roofman), Bilal Hasna (The Agency), and Greg Kinnear (Margo’s Got Money Troubles).

Character details are under wraps. Currently in production, Hancock’s untitled new film is based on the true story of Brent Wisner (Jonathan Bailey), a young, untried attorney who takes on a seemingly insurmountable case against Monsanto on behalf of Dewayne “Lee” Johnson. Wisner’s client alleged that he developed non-Hodgkin lymphoma as a result of his exposure to Monsanto’s best-known product, the weed and grass pesticide killer Roundup, through his job as a high school groundskeeper.

Laura Dern also stars in the new film, as previously announced.

Hancock is directing from a script written with Michael Wisner, Alexandra Duparc and Ned Benson. Producers on the project include Moritz Borman, Eric Kopeloff, Philip Schulz-Deyle, Adam McKay, Kevin Messick and Jon Levin.

Stanfield is repped by CAA, Stark Management, and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis; McDermott by CAA, D2 Management, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole; Duchovny by CAA, Anonymous Content, Davis Shapiro, Lewitt, and Nelson Davis; Diaz by Anonymous Content and Monica Villarreal; Hasna by Insight Management & Production and Circle Management + Production; and Kinnear by CAA, Anonymous Content, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.

CAA Media Finance brokered the deal with Netflix on behalf of the filmmakers.
