Looks like Amazon MGM Studios and John Krasinski aren’t ready to say goodbye to the Jack Ryan character as the studio is developing a new feature film starring Krasinski as the next stage in the evolution of the franchise. Wendell Pierce, who starred alongside Krasinski in the 2018-23 TV series, also will star, and Michael Kelly is in negotiations to reprise his starring role.
Andrew Bernstein, who served as an executive producer and director on season 2 of the series, is directing the film from a script penned by Aaron Rabin, who served as a co-executive producer and writer on Season 4 of the series. Krasinski and Allyson Seeger are producing via Sunday Night. Andrew Form is also producing. The film is produced in association with Paramount Pictures and Skydance. Skydance’s David Ellison and Dana Goldberg will executive produce alongside John Kelly and Carlton Cuse.
The film will be an extension of the Amazon MGM Studios, Paramount Television, and Skydance landmark original series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, which starred Krasinski as Clancy’s iconic character. Following the release of the final two episodes of the fourth and final season of the series, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan garnered a significant 1.15 billion minutes of viewing per Nielsen. Through four seasons to-date, the series ranks among Prime Video’s top-three most-watched series globally.
Most recently, John Krasinski released IF for Paramount Pictures which he starred in, wrote, produced, and directed. The film opened to number one at the box office and also stars Ryan Reynolds and Matt Damon, among others. Krasinski previously co-wrote, directed, and starred in Paramount’s Academy Award-nominated film, A Quiet Place. The film premiered to rave reviews and was named one of AFI’s Top 10 Films of the Year, the National Board of Review’s Top Films of 2018, while also overperforming at the box-office.
Following the success of A Quiet Place, Krasinski released his follow up hit, A Quiet Place: Part II, which he also wrote and directed. He also produced A Quiet Place: Day 1, with Michel Sarnoski directing, which was the top horror film of 2024. Krasinski is represented by WME and Schreck Rose.
Pierce also stars in the hit CBS drama, Elsbeth, based on the character featured in The Good Wife and The Good Fight, and in Season Three of the popular Starz Power universe’s Raising Kanan. He was also recently cast in the forthcoming Superman feature film for James Gunn. In 2022, Pierce returned to Broadway for a limited engagement to reprise his portrayal of “Willy Loman” in Death of a Salesman after receiving a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best Actor in a Play in London for the West End production. Kelly is known best for his four-time Emmy-Nominated role as Doug Stamper in the critically acclaimed series House of Cards, for which he starred in for all six seasons. Kelly can most recently be seen opposite Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldana in Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ series, Special Ops: Lioness and in the HBO Max series, The Penguin, where Kelly joins an all-star cast including Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti. He is repped by WME, Liebman Entertainment, and Schreck Rose.
Bernstein most recently directed multiple episodes of Welcome to Derry with Andy and Barbara Muschietti producing for HBO and the first season of The Diplomat for Netflix.He was previously in an overall deal with HBO under which he served as an executive producer and director for The Nevers. Rabin’s spec Towers was featured on the Black List with Andrew Mittman producing via his 1.21 banner. Additionally, he recently rewrote Nobody 2 into production for Universal, where he is currently writing another feature. Rabin is represented by Untitled, CAA, and Gendler Kelly.
