Fans of legal thrillers are spoiled for choice, with one hit show paving the way for another. HBO is currently airing the critically acclaimed War, starring Sienna Miller and Dominic West as a divorcing couple. The show has overtaken Lanterns as the number-one hit on the domestic HBO Max viewership chart, and will conclude its debut season on November 19. On November 4, however, Hulu will welcome back one of the worst-reviewed shows of the decade: All's Fair. Starring Kim Kardashian and Naomi Watts, the show was labeled a camp classic upon its debut in 2025. It certainly won't appeal to everyone. However, another, more old-fashioned legal thriller recently returned for a sophomore season and is performing superbly on Prime Video.

The USA Network series, which premiered in 2025, is based on a John Grisham bestseller. Interestingly, it's facing off on the Prime Video leaderboard against the streamer's flagship series Reacher and its spin-off, Neagley. Both shows are based on the bestselling book series by Lee Child, whose target readership often overlaps with that of Grisham. According to FlixPatrol, the Grisham adaptation is currently ranked eighth on the domestic Prime Video leaderboard, while Reacher is ranked sixth and Neagley is ranked third.

'Rainmaker' Received Mixed Reviews

We're talking, of course, about The Rainmaker. Starring Milo Callaghan, John Slattery, Lana Parrilla, Madison Iseman, and Dan Fogler, the series premiered with a 10-episode season in 2025. The first season received mixed reviews and is now sitting at a 55% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. The site's consensus reads, "Stripping John Grisham's novel of its flavor in favor of a more clichéd courtroom format, this Rainmaker adaptation only produces intermittent showers." The second season, which premiered on October 16, doesn't yet have an official Rotten Tomatoes score.

The Rainmaker was previously adapted into a movie directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Matt Damon. Released in the wake of hit Grisham adaptations such as The Firm, The Pelican Brief, The Client, and A Time to Kill, The Rainmaker underperformed with a $45 million box-office gross.

You can watch the television version on Prime Video, and stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
