EXCLUSIVE: JoAnna Garcia Swisher (Sweet Magnolias), Mark Wystrach (The Runarounds) and Madison Wolfe (The Hunting Wives) have commenced production in Louisiana on A Christmas Kind of Love, a new holiday rom-com for Netflix.

Written and directed by Bethany Ashton Wolf (Forever My Girl), the film follows a widowed baker in rural Louisiana who, when her daughter uncovers hidden tapes revealing her secret past as a rising country singer, must find the courage to reclaim her voice and save the town’s beloved Christmas show.

Michael J. Luisi is producing, with Jamie Elliott exec producing.

A member of the Netflix family, with roles in Sweet Magnolias and The Ultimatum: Queer Love, where she hosted two seasons, Swisher is otherwise perhaps best known for roles in the likes of Freaks and Geeks, Reba, and Are You Afraid of the Dark?. Other recent credits include Happy’s Place — where she reunited with Reba McEntire — and Christmas with the Campbells. She is repped by UTA and Untitled Entertainment.

Soon to be seen starring alongside Ben Foster, Rudy Pankow, and Gabriel Basso in the indie rodeo drama Cowboy, Wystrach’s recent credits include the Prime Video series The Runarounds and Michael Showalter’s Academy Award winner The Eyes of Tammy Faye. He is repped by UTA and Range Media Partners.

Wolfe has been seen in two of the hottest projects in recent memory — Netflix’s The Hunting Wives, as well as New Line’s The Conjuring: Last Rites, which grossed nearly $500M worldwide. In television, her other credits include True Detective, The Astronaut Wives Club, and Zoo. Also seen in films like Trumbo, Joy, The Conjuring 2, and Malignant, she is repped by Beck Talent, UTA, Untitled, and McKuin Frankel Whitehead.
