Jimmy Kimmel roasts Trump AGAIN after president compares himself to James Bond: '007 is his approval rating'

Jimmy Kimmel has reignited his long-running feud with President Donald Trump, taking aim at the former reality star after he appeared to liken himself to iconic movie spy James Bond.

The late-night host addressed the controversy during Monday’s monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, after Trump was seemingly referenced in connection with the legendary 007 franchise.

The debate was sparked when casting director Nina Gold, who is involved in the search for the next James Bond, discussed what qualities the next actor should bring to the iconic spy.

Speaking at Cannes, Gold suggested the new 007 should commit to multiple films and 'ooze sex appeal.'

The comments quickly caught attention in political circles, with the White House responding on Saturday by posting a stylized image of Trump holding a gun, overlaid with a silhouette and the number '007' alongside the slogan 'Make America Great Again.'

Kimmel seized on the moment during his monologue, mocking both Trump and the official account’s post suggesting the president as a Bond-style figure.

'Grab ’em by the Octopussy. We got a new James Bond in town,' Kimmel joked, referencing the classic 1983 Bond film and Trump's infamous Access Hollywood remarks.

'Trump also posted about how young he looks,' Kimmel added. 'He said, "President Trump ages in reverse.

'Like, you’re not aging in reverse. Wearing diapers does not mean you’re aging in reverse."

'I think 007 is his approval rating right now,' he continued.

'Imagine being a very unpopular president in the middle of a very unpopular war. The cost of everything is skyrocketing. Gas is very expensive.

'And you are spending your time posting online about how hot you are, how you captured an alien and how you should be the next James Bond.'

The comments follow confirmation earlier this week that casting for the next James Bond role has now officially begun.

'The search for the next James Bond is underway,' a spokesperson for Amazon MGM Studios said Thursday in a statement. 'While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.'

Bond creators released a statement about casting the next super spy

The announcement followed the Broccoli family stepping back from their long-standing control of the franchise, transferring creative oversight to Amazon MGM Studios in February 2025.

The next chapter in the long-running British spy saga is set to be directed by Denis Villeneuve.

The role of Bond has previously been portrayed by Craig, as well as Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan.

Over the past five years, speculation has swirled around who might step into the tuxedo next, with a familiar shortlist of names repeatedly emerging as frontrunners for the iconic 007 role.

According to OddsChecker, Callum Turner is currently the frontrunner.

The 36-year-old has built a strong screen résumé in recent years, appearing in the Fantastic Beasts films, earning a BAFTA nomination for The Capture, and starring in Masters of the Air and George Clooney’s The Boys in the Boat.

Hot on his heels is Harris Dickinson, 29, who is set to portray John Lennon in the upcoming Beatles biopics.

More recently, he appeared alongside Nicole Kidman in Babygirl and earned a BAFTA TV nomination for A Murder at the End of the World.

Australian actor Jacob Elordi is also firmly in the mix, first gaining attention in Netflix teen hit The Kissing Booth before breaking out in HBO’s Euphoria alongside Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney.

He has since moved into more serious roles in films including Saltburn and Priscilla, received an Academy Award nomination for Frankenstein, and recently starred opposite Margot Robbie in romantic drama Wuthering Heights.

Rounding out the leading pack is Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who has been repeatedly linked with the role over several years.

Kimmel has long made Trump and his administration a central focus of his satire - a rivalry that ultimately contributed to his show being temporarily pulled off the air by ABC’s parent company.

The suspension followed Kirk’s assassination in September 2025, after Kimmel delivered a fiery monologue accusing the ‘MAGA gang’ of ‘desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them’ while ‘working very hard to capitalize on the murder.’

He also compared Trump's response to that of ‘a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.’

In the fallout, Disney-owned ABC removed Kimmel from the air, while FCC chairman Brendan Carr warned the network its broadcast licence could be at risk - remarks that Trump echoed when he suggested networks offering him negative coverage ‘maybe their license should be taken away.’

The episode sparked widespread backlash and protests, with critics accusing the White House of encroaching on free speech and press freedoms.
