Jim Halpert, played by John Krasinski, is one of the original four main characters of The Office, and as such, he gets some pretty fantastic lines in the series. A listless paper salesman at the beginning of the show with a crush on a part-owner of a sports agency, with the wife of his dreams and two children, Jim comes a long way over nine seasons.
He can be a sarcastic prankster, a worried husband, and a thankful employee, and his best lines come in all sizes. Jim is quick with a joke, knows how to sum up a situation in the driest way possible, and can be genuinely sincere when it's called for. He's got a lot of great lines in the series, but these are the best.
10 "Five To Seven Minutes. Five To Seven Minutes. Six Minutes. Different, But Not Really. Five To Seven Minutes."
Season 6, Episode 17/18, "The Delivery"
Credit: MovieStillsDBJim is usually one step ahead of everyone in The Office, so it's always funny when he's feeling the heat and losing his cool. In "The Delivery", everyone is getting way too involved in Pam's (Jenna Fischer) baby journey. Jim, in particular, is getting frustrated both with the office and with Pam for refusing to go to the hospital.
His angry talking head when he reads from several baby birthing books is great, and his delivery of "Different, but not really" is a perfect line reading that captures his sarcasm and anxiety at the moment. It's like he's trying to convince the documentary crew he's right, and his anger just makes everything funnier.
9 "Toby's Great, He's Great. But Sometimes He Can Be A Little Bit Much. 'I Don't See The Harm In That.' Well, It's A Cake, Toby, So Come On."
Season 4, Episode 11, "Survivor Man"
MovieStills DBOne of the funnier evolving gags in the series is the slow reveal that Toby Flenderson (Paul Lieberstein) is as annoying as Michael Scott (Steve Carell) always said he was. Jim gets a first-hand look at this when he's manager for the day while Michael is out playing Survivor Man.
In his attempts to solve an issue no one else was having, Jim decides to celebrate everyone's birthdays at once, prompting Toby to explain he never actually got a birthday cake. Jim's response in a talking head is made even funnier by the mousy, nerdy voice he uses for Toby.

Season 8, Episode 23, "Turf War"
Credit: MovieStillsDBThis line works much better in context, but it's so great when it all comes together, and it's one of the few examples of this kind of joke from Jim. At this point in The Office, Dwight (Rainn Wilson) and Jim are actually pretty close, better friends than probably either one of them ever would have guessed.
In "Turf War", the pair are working together to close sales near a recently shuttered Dunder Mifflin branch. When Harry (Chris Bauer), the Syracuse office manager, comes to call foul, Dwight asks Jim where Harry can stick his sour grapes. Jim opts for a more family-friendly location rather than Dwight's anatomical suggestion. Even when he's being nice, Jim knows how to get one over on Dwight.
7 "Porque Es Muy Rápido."
Season 8, Episode 3, "Lotto"
Jim doesn't often have to face the consequences of his joking, which might be why we love him, but it's still good to see him get humbled a little every once in a while. In "Lotto", Jim, Dwight, Kevin (Brian Baumgartner), and Erin (Ellie Kemper) take on warehouse duties after the workers quit en masse.
Completely out of their element, the ridiculous grouping creates a Rube Goldberg-esque system to transport the paper boxes. When Andy (Ed Helms) asks what they were thinking, Jim is forced to admit that he's not only involved but even gave the operation a name: Señor Lodenstein, so named because of what Jim says here. Rápido, indeed.
6 "And Then Tomorrow, I Can Tell You What A Great Boss You Turned Out To Be. The Best Boss I Ever Had."
Season 7, Episode 22, "Goodbye, Michael"
Steve Carell's exit from the series is one of the more well-handled character departures in TV history. The Office manages to give Michael Scott a sendoff worthy of the hilarious, odd-ball, obnoxious, kind-hearted boss. There are hilarious moments, like Michael belly-laughing at how little Oscar (Oscar Nunez) respects him.
There are also tear-jerking moments, like when Jim says goodbye. Not wanting to say a final farewell, Michael lies to the office, telling them he has one more day despite intending to depart that evening. Jim, who has always had a strange understanding of Michael, catches on, and with a whole lot of class, lets Michael continue the charade, while tearfully thanking him.
5 "Aw Nuts!"
Season 7, Episode 16, "PDA"

There should have been more episodes of the two getting drunk, but we'll just have to settle for "PDA", one in a long list of The Office Valentine's Day episodes. The main story is about Michael and Holly (Amy Ryan) dealing with the fact that they might have to leave one another again.
One of the B-stories is Pam and Jim going out for a Valentine's Day brunch, one that includes bottomless mimosas. They stumble back into the office and feel like they're a part of the audience for an episode, giggling at all the events they'd normally be rolling their eyes at. When Dwight refuses his Valentine's Day card, Jim's "Aw nuts!" followed by hysterical laughter is delightfully endearing.
4 "The Boat Was Actually Plan C, The Church Was Plan B, And Plan A Was Marrying Her A Long, Long Time Ago. Pretty Much The Day I Met Her."
Season 6, Episode 5, "Niagara: Part 2"

It took him two seasons to admit it, and three more to score a date with her, but this long, winding road finally comes to their marriage, a fantastic two-part episode set in Niagara Falls. There are mishaps, faux pas, and disappointing family members.
Never ones for the traditional path, Jim and Pam end up getting married on board a tour boat under the Niagara Falls, then return to the wedding, with no one the wiser. Jim's line to the camera about his plans is a sweet reminder to the audience that you should never say never when it comes to things you love, and not to let setbacks stop you from pursuing what's important.
3 "Well... That's Not Gonna Hold Up In Court."
Season 3, Episode 21, "Product Recall"
Credit: MovieStillsDBSometimes Jim has a line so sharp it's almost mean, but this one is so funny you can't help but laugh. In "Product Recall", the Dunder Mifflin sales team has to do some damage control after a lewd watermark is printed on the company's paper. Andy and Jim go to the local high school to smooth some feathers.
There, Andy finds his new girlfriend. She's not a teacher though, she's a student. Yikes. "I had no idea!" Andy says, clearly shocked. Jim's response is so quick and funny that you can almost see him feeling bad after he says it. Andy brushes it off to let him know they only knocked over a couple of mailboxes, immediately reminding Jim why he mocks Andy.
2 "What About If We Did An Even Newer Voicemail Message That Had Even More Zing And Pep?"
Season 4, Episode 16, "Did I Stutter"
Jim pranking Dwight is always funny, with some of the best scenes coming from their contentious relationship. However, I do particularly love the times when Jim goes after Andy. Andy is more self-aware than Dwight, so he often catches on quicker, but he's also very lacking in confidence, which means he wears his angry heart on his sleeve.
In "Did I Stutter", Michael asks the office for ideas on how to "energize" Dunder Mifflin. Andy's unhelpful response is for a new voicemail message with more zing and pep. Jim one-ups him by suggesting one with even more zing and pep. Michael, of course, loves that idea even more, and Andy looks like he'd love to punch a wall.
1 "Not Enough For Me? You Are Everything."
Season 9, Episode 22/23, "A.A.R.M."
Jim and Pam's relationship weaves its way through nine seasons of The Office, and it's one of the more realistic portraits of the ups and downs that most couples go through. Season 9 may be frustrating, but it's also not entirely unfamiliar. Life decisions like new jobs and new homes can put pressure on even the best couples.
It's a serious season of The Office for Jim and Pam, but that drama also allows for some moving scenes, like when Pam nearly bursts with guilt and worries that she isn't enough for Jim. Flabbergasted, Jim makes a video of their relationship (with the help of the documentary crew) and hands the thankful Pam the letter he meant to give her seven seasons earlier. Pam is Jim's everything, and we believe it.
