Jessie Ware has turned up the heat for her latest single, by recruiting James Norton to play her 'sexy cowboy' lover in an erotically-charged BDSM-style music video.

The singer, 41, is gearing up for the release of her sixth studio album Superbloom next month, and has dropped new single, Ride.

The disco-esque track samples the iconic theme from the 1966 film, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, composed by Ennio Morricone.

And the accompanying music video - shot on film in black-and-white - also adopts a stylised Western setting, with an unabashedly erotic edge.

The steamy video boasts a slew of provocative scenes of Jessie dominating a submissive James, 40, with both clad in typical cowboy get-ups.

There are numerous nods to the BDSM world of Fifty Shades of Grey, with the songstress seen putting her fingers in the Grantchester star's mouth and blindfolding him with a length of rope.

Taking the song's title quite literally at one point, Jessie sits astride James' back while he kneels on all fours and she looks directly at the camera, singing: 'I need a stallion who can go all night, someone to come and blow my mind.'

He can also be seen crawling on his hands and knees towards her, while one deliberately charged snippet sees her putting her toes in his mouth.

Directed by Thomas James, the video is interspersed with clips of the House Of Guinness star going full sexy cowboy as he rides a horse, while Jessie sings the repeated refrain: 'Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up'.

And fans will be even more delighted by the footage of James shirtless, clad only in his cowboy hat and chaps.

The video - which was previously teased as being 'like Wuthering Heights meets Fifty Shades Of Grey' - is undoubtedly visually striking, while the chemistry between the two stars is clear as Jessie bites seductively on James' ear and straddles his back.

Revealing how she bagged the House of Guinness star for the role of sexy cowboy, the podcaster explained she'd proposed the idea to him while at a mutual friend's show together.

She recalled: 'James is a friend, and we were recently at our friend Jack Peñate’s performance (who I made Ride with) and I asked him, "James, do you ride a horse, and would you be up for being a sexy cowboy in the video?"'

'I sent him the song, he loved it, and I’m so grateful that he made this happen,' she went on.

Describing the shooting process, she said: 'To be honest, I didn’t think I would be as involved in the video but James being the total gentleman and professional he is made it so easy.'

'It was a freezing cold February day and by 10am I was licking his ear', Jessie quipped. 'Everything was shot on film so I think it looks so beautiful - props to Thomas our wonderful director, and to Caravan the horse.'

While James revealed he couldn't turn down the opportunity to star in the video, describing the experience as a 'properly fun ride'.

'When Jessie came to me with the idea of being in her music video, I couldn’t find a reason to say no,' he said.

‘Ride is such a great tune and as a long-time fan of Jessie’s work, and more recently a friend, it felt like a fun thing to do. Jessie, Thomas, and the whole crew made sure it was a properly fun ride.'

The music video also gave James a chance to star in his own Fifty Shades, after previously admitting he missed out on the role of Christian Grey in the franchise.

The lead role of the sado-masochist millionaire in the eponymous film went to Irish actor Jamie Dornan – and turned him into a star.

The much-hyped movie, featuring graphic sex scenes between The Fall star and Dakota Johnson as his submissive lover, was released in 2015.

James, who was relatively unknown when he auditioned, had just hit the big time after the release of the first series of Happy Valley the previous year.

On his audition for Fifty Shades, he recalled the director asking: 'Can you be a bit more charismatic?'

He told The Guardian: 'That's the hardest thing to just try and do. Especially since I was too young and self-conscious to even really know what she meant!'

The adaptation of E. L. James' Fifty Shades novel, which caused a sensation for its S&M subject matter when published in 2011, was box office gold despite being panned by critics.

It grossed £25.2million in ten days and became the UK's biggest 18 certificate film ever.
