Jessica Simpson celebrates seven years of sobriety amid rumors of marital turmoil

Jessica Simpson marked seven years of being alcohol-free on Friday amid her sobriety journey.

In celebration of her major accomplishment, the 44-year-old singer took to Instagram to share a black-and-white photo of herself traveling on an airplane.

During the flight, she snapped a photo of herself looking out at and admiring the view from the window seat of her flight. 

The Dukes Of Hazzard star — who is rumored to be heading toward divorce after 10 years of marriage to husband Eric Johnson — posed pensively with her hand on her chin.

Alongside the evocative and symbolic photo, she wrote: '[Seven years] ago I walked myself into the light of being alcohol-free.'

Her announcement comes shortly after rumors emerged that her marriage to Johnson, 45, is on the rocks.

She and the former football player tied the knot in 2014, and they share three children — daughters Max, 12, and Birdie, five; and son Ace, 11. 

Recently, the Blonde Ambition actress has been spotted without her wedding ring on a number of occasions.

She also has not shared any photos with her husband in over a year, and she skipped the usual gushing birthday tribute for him in September, which had been her tradition for years.

The pair were last seen together in public in June, when they attended Birdie's kindergarten graduation together. 

Sources claimed that a shift occurred after she got sober in 2017, according to Life & Style. 

Johnson had been supportive of Simpson amid her struggles with alcohol. An insider claimed that 'she'll always be grateful, but she's changed a lot of her thinking and priorities since then.' 

The source told the outlet: 'Lately, Jessica has been reevaluating her happiness, her marriage and her business empire and she is ready to start fresh. It's pretty much over between her and Eric; it's only a matter of time before she files for divorce.'

The insider added, 'He's always been supportive and an amazing father. They tried couples counseling, which worked for a while, but then things went back to the way they were. They don't spend nearly as much time together as they used to, and they've just grown apart.' 

Since then, the insider claimed, 'Jess and Eric have had to have some really difficult conversations, including about pulling the plug on their relationship.' 

About her future, the insider dished: 'She wants to grow her empire to the next level and has really been inspired by Kim Kardashian.' 

The source said she admires the billionaire fashion mogul and SKIMS founder — whose daughter, North, 11, is best friends with Simpson's daughter Maxwell — because she 'has put her own four [sic] divorces behind her and is now thriving as a single mom and businesswoman.'
