How Jessica Biel "Tried to Spoil" Justin Timberlake for His 45th Birthday

Jessica Biel has done her best to say bye, bye, bye to mom guilt.

"So, one of the best pieces of parenting advice I've ever gotten was 'you cannot do both at the same time,'" The Better Sister actress shared during a 2022 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. "When you're wrestling on the floor, you're wrestling on the floor, don't answer the phone, don't look at a work thing, don't text someone, you are wrestling on the floor."

But even in those moments when she's getting rough and tumble with sons Silas, 10, and Phineas, 5, at times the actress can't stop the feeling that she's struggling to keep it all together.

"It's not easy balancing your whole life," she noted to Drew Barrymore. "Trying to be around your kids, and your partners and friends and still have time for yourself and work."

As a result, she continued, "I don't think I do it well, necessarily. I feel like I'm constantly being pulled in a thousand directions, and I think I do that thing where I go 'It's all great!' and inside is a crazy turmoil of ocean waves crashing and I'm trying to figure it all out."

She credits husband Justin Timberlake with helping take her to a better place.

Between his recent 15-month Forget Tomorrow World Tour and her filming schedule (her latest, Matchbox: The Movie, is slated for an October release), "We try to have one of us working full time," she told InStyle last year, "only one."

And should her boys need to join her on set, their support squad includes a travel teacher and a nanny. "It really takes a village to raise any kid," Biel noted, "let alone in a wild business like this where parents are traveling for long times for work."

But even with their jam-packed calendars, the couple make it a point to be on their suit and tie s--t for special occasions.

And with Biel going out of her way to celebrate her husband's 45th birthday Jan. 31—"I tried to spoil him," she told Extra. "We filled the house with flowers and the kids made cards and we had a nice dinner with friends"—what goes around comes around now that she's blowing out 44 candles March 3.
