Jerry Hall, 70, says she was 'scared' to live alone for the first time after divorce from Rupert Murdoch as she opens up on single life and being a 'fun granny'

Jerry Hall has gushed she is now 'living the life of Riley' despite being scared to live alone following her divorce from her ex-husband Rupert Murdoch.

The American model and actress, 70, opened up about her 'perfect' single life and how she is the 'fun granny' in a new interview.

Jerry Hall lauded not having to worry about a man and keeping a tidy home, which remains that way because she is the only one living in her Georgian pile.

It is the home she shared with the media mogul, 95, until their separation in 2022 after six years of marriage citing irreconcilable differences.

Sharing her thoughts on being alone after the split, she told Grazia magazine: 'I had never lived alone in my entire life, until three years ago. I was quite scared. After a few months, I was like, wow, this is easy - and my house, it's so tidy!'

She continued: 'You don't have to have a boyfriend or a husband. You can just enjoy being on your own.'

While she is often alone, Jerry's life remains full as she regularly spends time with her four children, Elizabeth, 42, James, 41, Georgia, 34 and Gabriel, 29.

She shares all of her children with her ex Mick Jagger, who she was in a relationship with from 1977 to 1999. Although they had a Hindu wedding ceremony in 1990, an English court later ruled that the marriage was not legally valid.

Jerry remains close friends with Mick who she describes as 'a lot of fun and a great dad', but mainly because they share children.

She now also has three grandchildren but she insisted she is a 'fun granny'.

Jerry said: 'I don't believe in nagging them. I think that's such a bore. I think you teach by example.' 

Jerry's next project is appearing on Celebrity Traitors, which begins on Thursday.

She has revealed how her children warned her not to 'do anything dangerous' – because they think she lives as if she's in her twenties.

She said they were quick to voice their concerns before she set off to the Highlands to film the second series of the hit BBC show.

Jerry said they advised her: 'Mom, don't do anything dangerous!  Be careful. You think you're younger than you are.

'You and Dad are always doing things that you did in your twenties that maybe you shouldn't be doing now.'

However, the star suggests she did not take their advice, saying: 'I'm very competitive, as is Mick and our children.

'Everyone wants to win. I tend to be the leader when it comes to games. But I'm going to try to behave.'

Jerry, who is 'completely obsessed' with the show, is one of 21 famous faces taking part, including Richard E Grant, Michael Sheen and James Blunt.

The series, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, will be screened on BBC One from Thursday, with celebrities split into Faithfuls and secret Traitors as they battle to win £100,000 for charity.
