Jeremy Allen White was spotted filming his upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic - as fans were left furious over a first look image of him in the role.
A promotional photo was released on social media this Monday, showing White, 33, in character as 'The Boss' for the film Deliver Me From Nowhere.
The picture was instantly met with a scathing reaction online, as observers remarked on how different White looks from Springsteen.
In the midst of the backlash, White, 33, was spotted Monday on the set of the movie in New Jersey, where Springsteen was born and raised.
He was dressed in a costume suited to the movie's 1980s setting, including a khaki jacket, faded jeans, black leather low-top boots and a large leather satchel.

One day earlier, White was spotted on the set of the film in similarly retro attire, such as a grey pageboy cap and black leather jacket.
His red flannel shirt was left partly open to reveal his white undershirt, and the look was brought together with a pair of skintight charcoal jeans.
White's costume was strikingly redolent of the movie's setting in the early 1980s, well into Springsteen's international stardom.
The controversial first look photo, released Monday by 20th Century Studios, showed White in the same outfit he wore on the set this Sunday.
While the Golden Globe winner may have captured Springsteen's brooding look, users on social media insisted he doesn't look anything like the rocker.
'I'm sorry, I love JAW and I'm sure he'll do great, but he looks nothing like Bruce Springsteen and I think this is such a weird casting choice,' one user on X wrote.

White mimicking Springsteen's style choices in the photo wasn't enough to convince many that he is the right person to portray the Born in the USA singer.

yet another wrote: 'This is the most Jeremey Allen White that Jeremy Allen White has ever looked.'
Other social media users were nonetheless excited to see White playing Springsteen.

Deliver Me From Nowhere was adapted from a book of the same name written by Warren Zane. The film's writer and director, Scott Cooper, called the production an 'incredibly humbling and thrilling journey.'
'The album’s raw, unvarnished portrayal of life's trials and resilience resonates deeply with me,' Cooper said in a statement to Variety.
'Our film aims to capture that same spirit, bringing Warren Zanes' compelling narrative of Bruce's life to the screen with authenticity and hope, honoring Bruce's legacy in a transformative cinematic experience.'
Filming will primarily take place in locations throughout New York and New Jersey, but occasional scenes will be shot in Los Angeles.
Allen's co-stars include Jeremy Strong, Odessa Young, and Stephen Graham.
The Bear actor was a 'top choice' to play Springsteen, and was confirmed as the film's lead in April.
White revealed to Deadline last month how 'excited' he was to star in the film.
'I can say I've got a really beautiful team of people helping me and Bruce has been really lovely and supportive and available, which has made this whole process an extra joy,' White said.
Springsteen discussed the upcoming biopic earlier this month, saying he felt good about the 'whole project.'
'I've seen the scripts and I've talked to the director,' Springsteen said.
'They're just putting it all together, so I don't have an awful lot to say about it, but I'm excited about it happening.'
