On paper, Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban seem like a match made in Hollywood heaven: two music megastars – both newly single.
Fresh off the heels of their respective divorces – Urban, 58, from actress Nicole Kidman, and Lopez, 57, from actor Ben Affleck – the pair have reignited romance rumors that first set tongues wagging more than a decade ago.
In 2014, their apparent chemistry at the American Idol judging panel was palpable, their playful on-air rapport, photographs of him leaning in for a whisper and her verdict that he was 'so cute' only fueling gossip among fans.
But at the time, the superstars were spoken for: Lopez was dating dancer Casper Smart, and Urban was already married to Kidman.
Today, however, the stars seem to have aligned with the old friends now single at the same time, with reports of 'secret' meet-ups prompting whispers of rekindling a spark.
But anyone hoping for a Tinseltown love story might want to put down the confetti – it seems the Australian country crooner doesn't quite tick all of Lopez's boxes.
At the time of their American Idol stint, Lopez, now 57, was dating dancer Casper Smart, while Urban, now 58, was married to Nicole Kidman, whom he wed in 2006 (Smart, Lopez, Kidman and Urban pictured in 2013)

'Jen always seems to be in relationship rumors, but Keith isn't her type,' a source close to the stars told the Daily Mail.
Indeed, it is a musical partnership that has promise, not the romantic one.
'Jen and Keith are great friends from working together several years ago, and though they both have recently dealt with major break ups, it currently isn't going to put them together, romantically at least,' the insider said.
'They will be together work-wise only.'
Lopez once gushed it would be a 'dream come true' to record a duet with Urban, and after seeing Beyonce take a country detour on her 2024 album Cowboy Carter, our source says Lopez is now considering taking a break from dancefloor hits to dabble in Nashville sound – and Urban could be just the man to help.
'Jen has been interested in doing a Beyonce and is looking to record some country songs and wanted to see how that would look, and she has been chatting with Keith to see if they would be able to work together on a few songs,' the source said.
Of course, any talk of a reunion was surely going to call back to their American Idol days. And more than a decade on, their circumstances have changed considerably – even if, according to our source, the nature of their friendship has not.
Urban's split from Kidman, 59, last September brought an end to what had long appeared to be one of the industry's more enduring marriages.
Once the initial shock subsided, reports suggested the separation was anything but straightforward.
The pair sparked speculation during their American Idol stint, with their banter and chemistry prompting viewers to speculate about a possible romance (pictured together in 2014)

The pair were reportedly communicating through lawyers, while Urban was said to be struggling with the distance from their daughters, Sunday Rose, 18, and Faith Margaret, 15.
Under their divorce settlement, Kidman has the girls for 306 days a year, with Urban allotted the remaining 59 – or every other weekend.
In March, a source told the Daily Mail that the singer was feeling lost without his family. Kidman had taken their daughters to Australia for Christmas before the divorce was finalized the following month, while Urban remained in the United States.
Then came Sunday Rose's Elle Australia cover interview, in which the aspiring model described her mother as her 'biggest inspiration in life,' without mentioning her father. At the time, a source complained to Australian magazine New Idea: 'It's like he doesn't exist.'
Sources who spoke to the Daily Mail at the time rejected any notion that Kidman had turned her daughters against their father. Instead, one insider said, the girls are in Kidman's 'corner,' and are 'hurt and angry on her behalf.'
Since the split, Kidman, for her part, has been linked to businessman Michael Reinstein and is said to be 'enjoying this time of discovery and what "single" life looks like in this day and age,' a source previously told the Daily Mail.
In the wake of the split, Urban was rumored to be linked to musicians Maggie Baugh, 25, and Karley Scott Collins, 26, though the claims were later refuted.
'Keith, surprisingly, has been the more emotional one post-divorce. I don't think he ever thought he'd find himself divorced at 58. It's kind of like he's having a midlife crisis,' a source told the Daily Mail last month. 'He's Keith Urban. Girls are literally still throwing themselves at him, yet now he's single.'
Urban and Kidman split last year, while Lopez and Affleck separated in 2024
According to our source, Urban isn't Lopez's 'type'
A possible spark with Urban is only the latest romantic speculation Lopez has faced since her divorce from 54-year-old Affleck two years ago.
Their marriage, too, was seen as a long-awaited happy ending for the pair, having reunited nearly two decades after their engagement unraveled in 2004.
In 2021, they rekindled their relationship, marrying in Las Vegas the following July and following with a second celebration in Georgia a month later. But the much-celebrated second act did not last: Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, and it was finalized in January 2025.
Following the split, whispers of a possible romance between Lopez and her Office Romance co-star Brett Goldstein, 46, swirled amid cozy red carpet appearances and reports of 'undeniable' chemistry. The actors, however, shut down dating rumors while appearing on the Today show in June.
And even before tying the knot with Affleck, Lopez was married to actors Ojani Noa and Cris Judd, as well as singer Marc Anthony, with whom she shares 18-year-old twins Max and Emme. She was also engaged to former baseball star Alex Rodriguez, but the pair split in 2021.
Yet even after four failed marriages, Lopez is hardly ready to retire Cupid.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in May, she made clear that any future suitor would have to meet her standards: 'I'll meet somebody somewhere one day if they're good enough.'
For now, our insider says that although 'she wants to find love again,' Urban is not the man to fill that vacancy.
