Jennifer Garner leaves church after awkward reunion with Ben Affleck and his ex Jennifer Lopez at kids' play

Jennifer Garner was seen leaving church on Sunday morning in a chic but understated look.

The Alias star, 52, wore a black turtleneck sweater with a white shirt peeking out from the bottom hem.

She paired the top with black boot-cut pants and high-heeled platform black boots.

The 13 Going on 30 actress wore her brunette hair in a ponytail and had sunglasses on to protect her eyes from the glare of the Southern California sun.

A brown leather handbag with a gold chain link handle hung from one of her shoulders. 

Jennifer carried a cup of coffee and a red and green plaid gift bag as she made her way to her car. 

The star of The Last Thing He Told Me recently reunited with her ex-husband Ben Affleck, 52, and his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez, 55.

The parents all attended a play Garner and Affleck's child Fin was starring in at their school alongside JLo's daughter Emme, 16.

Garner and Affleck are parents to Violet, 19, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12. JLo shares twins Emme and Max with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. 

The latest reunion of Garner and Affleck comes after a source told Page Six that Affleck was overjoyed to spend the holiday with his family as he feels as if he can 'just be himself' around Garner and their kids.

The insider added: 'Even though Ben and Jen have been split for a while now, he feels a certain level of comfort with her.

'Ben has a strong relationship with Jen that will never dissipate because they have a lot of history together and she’s the mother of his kids.'

The source said that while 'some men would find it annoying,' Affleck likes that his ex takes care of him.

'He loves being looked after by her,' the source continued. 'He goes to her whenever he has a big career or life decision to make for her advice.'

At this moment, a source told Page Six that Affleck 'Ben has no interest in jumping into another relationship.' 

'Ben’s divorce from Jennifer hasn’t even been finalized, but even if it were, dating is just not where his head is at,' the insider revealed.

Before officially calling it quits with Lopez, Garner is said to have 'encouraged' Ben to work on his marriage with the On The Floor hitmaker.

'When things started getting rocky between Ben and Jennifer (Lopez), Jen was very supportive of their relationship and encouraged Ben to work on their marriage,' the source claimed. 

The insider added that Garner has 'no problem' with J.Lo, adding: 'At the end of the day, she just wants Ben to be happy.'

Earlier this week, Garner looked cozy in a dark green sweater and jeans as she did some shopping in Los Angeles. 

During the relaxing excursion, the mother-of-three also held a conversation on the phone as she strolled down a sidewalk in the city. 

Garner's latest outing comes after she was spotted filming the second season of her Apple TV+ series, The Last Thing He Told Me, in Long Beach.

The first season of the show premiered last year in April 2023 - and became the streaming site's most-watched limited series.

The premise followed, 'A woman (Garner) who forms an unexpected relationship with her 16-year-old stepdaughter while searching for the truth about why her husband has mysteriously disappeared,' per IMDB. 

In March, the series was renewed for a second season.

Along with Garner, other cast members such as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Angourie Rice and David Morse, will reprise their roles.

The thriller is being made under Reese Witherspoon's media company called Hello Sunshine.
