Collier Jennings is an entertainment journalist with a substantial amount of experience under his belt. Collier, or "CJ" to his friends and family, is a dedicated fan of genre films - particularly science fiction, fantasy and comic book adaptations, not to mention all forms of animation animation. This stems from a close bond with his father, who introduced him to these genres via copies of X-Men comics and reruns of the original Ultraman series. Using his near-encyclopedic knowledge and bottomless love of genre, he's been able to tackle a wide variety of articles.
Twenty-five years ago, Alias turned Jennifer Garner into a superstar. The spy series featured Garner as Sydney Bristow, who believes she's carrying out missions for a secret CIA division called SD-6. The truth is far more disturbing: SD-6 is actually an enemy of the United States, meaning that Sydney has been working with the enemy all along. Alongside her estranged father, Jack (Victor Garber), and her handler (later, boyfriend) Michael Vaughn (Michael Vartan), Sydney works to dismantle SD-6 as a double agent. Alias is a series that deserves far more recognition than it gets, and fans might be happy to learn that Garner is up for reuniting with the world of Alias...but not in the way that fans might think.
While speaking with Collider's Tania Hussain about the second season of her Apple TV series, The Last Thing He Told Me, Garner revealed that she still keeps in touch with her Alias castmates, including having a party for the 20th anniversary. She also said she'd be up for a potential reunion, though she stressed it would be up to creator J.J. Abrams to sort out the details.
"For 20 years, we had a backyard party. Actually, I don’t know her, but Melissa McCarthy loaned us her office backyard to have a party with the whole crew, which is wild, and we did, and it was incredible. So, at 25 years, there might be that kind of reunion because we were such a close-knit cast and crew, and so many of us are still working together. But I don’t know. You’ll have to talk to J.J. Abrams about more than that."
While Garner isn’t teasing an Alias revival or reboot and is instead talking about a meaningful gathering of the people who made the show, there may be no better time for the series to return, given its history, chemistry, and unfinished emotional potential.
An 'Alias' Reunion Has One Key Factor Going for It
Image via ABCGarner's reveal that she's still close with her Alias cast gives the idea of a potential reunion special even more fuel. Not many casts have that strong a bond; in fact, you're more likely to hear about which cast members hated one another, or weren't fans of their time on the show. Jeanette McCurdy declined to return for the iCarly reunion on Paramount+ due to her retirement from acting, and later unpacked how much she didn't want to be an actress in her memoir I'm Glad My Mom Died. Will Smith and Janet Hubert feuded for years after Hubert was fired from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and eventually made up in the Fresh Prince reunion special.
In contrast, the fact that Garner still keeps in touch with her castmates highlights the bonds they shared on and off-screen. Throughout Alias, Sydney struggles to trust those around her, with Jack and Michael as her only sources of support. The performances helped sell it, as Garber gave a great fatherly performance while still holding a bit of grit, while Garner and Vartan's chemistry was intense. Alias also ended in a way that left room to revisit these characters almost two decades later, which only makes the idea of a revival more exciting.

Why Jennifer Garner's ‘Alias’ Is One of My Ultimate Comfort Shows
"I know a lot of people who live regular lives... there's only one Sydney Bristow."
There's also the supporting cast, which includes Abrams's longtime collaborator Greg Grunberg and none other than Bradley Cooper. Hearing stories about what it was like to work with these actors would definitely make for a great hour of television. It could also be equal parts entertaining and emotional, thanks to the connection the cast shares.
'Alias' Helped Launch Multiple Careers, Including J.J. Abrams'
To say Alias was a launching pad for talent is an understatement. In addition to propelling Garner and Cooper into superstardom, the series also made J.J. Abrams into one of Hollywood's biggest creative voices. Not only would Abrams create another hit series for ABC in the form of Lost, but he'd also helm major blockbusters, including Star Trek and Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens. Abrams is keeping busy, as he's set to return to the big screen this year with an original movie, The Great Beyond. Still, here's hoping he can carve out time to reunite with Garner and the rest of the Alias cast.
Twenty-five years might have passed, but Alias remains a standout in the world of action shows and spy series. A large part of that is thanks to Jennifer Garner and the rest of the talented cast, and the best way to celebrate their hard work is to have some form of a reunion.
Alias is available to stream on Disney+.
