Jenna Ortega put on a dazzling display in a daring fringed dress as she attended the premiere for her new film Klara And The Sun at New York's Crosby Street Hotel on Monday.

The actress, 24, was joined on the blue carpet by her chic co-star Amy Adams, 52, as the two continued to promote the Taika Waititi-directed film despite the scathing, one-star reviews.

Jenna ensured all eyes were on her as she modelled the form-fitting halterneck dress which featured intricate silver beading and embellishments with hues of yellow and peach.

The Wednesday star boosted her height with nude pointed heels, while her raven locks, which were tinged with deep copper, were worn poker straight.

Amy meanwhile opted for a sleek off-the-shoulder black dress, which featured flared white cuffs.

The actress finished off her stylish look with pointed black heels and statement yellow diamond earrings.

The New York premiere came as a stream of scathing reviews were released for Taika's latest movie.

The movie, based on Kazuo Ishiguro's book, sees Jenna play the titular character, a robot girl designed to prevent loneliness.

While posing in the store's window, Klara catches the eye of Josie (Mia Tharia), who persuades her mother Chrissie (Amy) to buy her as a companion.

Klara befriends the teen in an alternative future where technological advances in genetic engineering have divided humans into strict, isolated classes. Steve Buscemi and Natasha Lyonne also star in the movie.

The movie premiered Thursday at the BFI London Film Festival and has racked up a stream of lacklustre reviews in the days since.

It currently holds a 25% 'rotten' critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer based on 12 reviews.

The Telegraph, The Times and The Guardian have all given the film one star reviews.

The movie, based on Kazuo Ishiguro's book, sees Jenna play the titular character, a robot girl designed to prevent loneliness

The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw called Waititi's adaptation 'a sentimental and laborious mess,' adding that the filmmaker 'turns Kazuo Ishiguro's AI fable into a twee, tiresome tale of love and grief.'

Variety's Guy Lodge agrees, declaring it to be 'calamitous', writing that 'Jenna Ortega tries hard to illuminate this misbegotten Kazuo Ishiguro adaptation, but Waititi's decision to play it for strained, whimsical comedy is ruinous.'

Tim Robey of The Telegraph meanwhile sums up the movie as 'mind-meltingly dreadful'.

Klara And The Sun hits UK cinemas on October 23.
