Jenna Ortega has revealed she doesn't watch her own films or read their reviews as she admitted she thinks it would 'send her into a psychosis'.

The actress, 24, insisted she tries to stay as detached as possible and only tunes into some of the chatter through social media, but also tries to limit her time online.

Jenna's reluctance to engage with what is being said about her is to maintain firm boundaries around her own relationship with her public image.

'I think that that would send me into a psychosis of some sort,' she said when asked if she watches her own movies or reads reviews in a new Vogue interview.

Jenna also purposely avoids opening the box office updates her team sends because she 'doesn't want it to become a numbers thing'.

She only encounters chatter about her movies through word of mouth or Instagram, 'which I'm on less and less So much of what you see on there nowadays is just garbage AI. We all look at ourselves too much.'

In recent weeks Jenna has been jetting from London to Rome to New York for the premieres of her new movie Klara And The Sun.

She  put on a dazzling display in a daring fringed dress as she attended the premiere for her new film Klara And The Sun at New York's Crosby Street Hotel on Monday.

Jenna was joined on the blue carpet by her co-star Amy Adams, 52, as the two continued to promote the Taika Waititi-directed film despite the scathing, one-star reviews.

The movie, based on Kazuo Ishiguro's book, sees Jenna play the titular character, a robot girl designed to prevent loneliness.

While posing in the store's window, Klara catches the eye of Josie (Mia Tharia), who persuades her mother Chrissie (Amy Adams) to buy her as a companion.

Klara befriends the teen in an alternative future where technological advances in genetic engineering have divided humans into strict, isolated classes. Steve Buscemi and Natasha Lyonne also star in the movie.

The movie premiered Thursday at the British Film Institute London Film Festival and has racked up a stream of lacklustre reviews in the days since.

It currently holds a 20 per cent 'rotten' critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer based on 10 reviews.

The Telegraph, The Times and The Guardian have all given the film one star reviews.

The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw called Waititi's adaptation 'a sentimental and laborious mess', adding that the film-maker 'turns Kazuo Ishiguro's AI fable into a twee, tiresome tale of love and grief'.

Variety's Guy Lodge agrees, declaring it to be 'calamitous', writing that 'Jenna Ortega tries hard to illuminate this misbegotten Kazuo Ishiguro adaptation, but Waititi's decision to play it for strained, whimsical comedy is ruinous.'

Tim Robey of The Telegraph, meanwhile, sums up the movie as 'mind-meltingly dreadful'.

Klara And The Sun hits UK cinemas on October 23.
