Statham's protagonist, Adam Clay, "watches from afar. He goes into the house and puts a gun to the head of Wallace. He tells Adam that the beekeepers have gone rogue. Adam is looking for his friend, but Wallace says he doesn't know where she is. An action scene shows Adam taking down masked bad guys on a street, using their guns to hit them in the stomach and head. He says that bee stings help stop the bleeding of his wounds.

More plot details unravel for the sequel, as "Wallace says that the beekeepers have kidnapped the president. A soldier with a flamethrower tells Adam “welcome home” and the hero takes him down. He says humans can learn a lot from bees. Wallace gets Adam a car which has a turret attached, and he uses it against a group of soldiers on an air strip. Adam is then seen dropping a group of bees into a locked room with enemies, and the bees then attack them."

The original 2024 movie was a revenge quest in which Adam sought vengeance after his landlady lost her life to a phishing scam. During the film's events, it was revealed that he was part of the Beekeeper program, and Wallace sent out several current members to stop Adam. The Beekeeper ended with Statham's protagonist saving Jessica Danforth (Jemma Redgrave) after her own son, played by Josh Hutcherson, tried to kill him.

The Beekeeper became a box office hit, earning $162.6 million against a $40 million budget. It also earned critical acclaim after receiving a 71% rating and a strong 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The action film easily became one of the most successful Statham movies, which ultimately made the sequel a no-brainer.

Based on the plot details, it seems that the sequel will dive deeper into Statham's mysterious character and the clandestine intelligence organization, the Beekeepers. Adam had personally decided to retire, but it was not explicitly explained why he made that choice. On the other hand, it's unclear why he is only searching for a friend.

Timo Tjahjanto will helm the sequel after David Ayer directed the original 2024 movie. The Beekeeper 2's returning cast includes Statham, Redgrave, Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, and Bobby Naderi. Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff, and Adam Copeland join as the newest cast members.

Before The Beekeeper's release in 2027, Statham has one more action film on the docket, which is slated to drop this year. The upcoming action movie Mutiny also has a revenge story, and a new trailer reveals its protagonist fighting traffickers at sea. It will be released in August 2026.

The Beekeeper 2 will be released in theaters on January 15, 2027.
