The digital release for Mutiny is quicker than usual, which is why its new availability at home feels so notable. While most major movie studios keep their films in theaters exclusively for one month or longer, Lionsgate is among those who put films on digital quicker. For example, Lionsgate also put Den of Thieves 2: Pantera on digital after 18 days.

This really isn't abnormal for Statham's movies. Even in cases like The Beekeeper and A Working Man, where his movies performed well at the box office, Amazon MGM put both films on digital after 18 days. The actor is known for not making his fans wait that long to see his new films at home, regardless of how successful or well-received they are.

Mutiny's reception certainly played a role in Lionsgate's decision, though. It's only made $24.3 million worldwide at the box office through three weekends. If it had done better, the digital release probably would've taken a bit longer. With a $40 million budget, the studio is opting for a quicker digital release to try and give the film some additional paths to making money.

After all, Mutiny has had trouble drawing audiences to theaters after Amazon leaked the movie online. That gave potential ticket buyers an easy avenue to watch it from home, while piracy also plagued the film after Amazon realized the mistake. Now, Lionsgate has given fans a way to watch Mutiny at home legally and support the film in the process.

Mutiny Is A Must-Watch For Jason Statham Fans

Watching Mutiny at home on digital will cost you $19.99 to $24.99, depending on whether you want to rent or buy Statham's movie. Either option is worth it for fans of the decade's most dependable action star or anyone who is looking for a quick, action-packed piece of entertainment to enjoy from the comfort of your couch.

Mutiny is filled with action, as Statham's character sneaks around the boat and battles anyone who opposes him. The movie makes great use of his martial arts background, putting him in close-quarters fights. There are also some really inventive, unique, and fun moments that come from all of Statham's brawls, including a final kill that would make John Wick proud.

Other elements of the movie might let people down, but Statham and the action don't. It's exactly what we've come to expect from the actor over the years, and it's pretty enjoyable watching Statham do his version of Die Hard. Now that there are more convenient options to watch Mutiny, it's an easy recommendation from me if you typically like Statham's action movies.
