Jason Momoa and Ryan Reynolds' New R-Rated Crime Movie Hit With Major Setback

Then, on December 18, Momoa joins an all-star cast in the hotly anticipated Dune Part Three, the final chapter in director Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi trilogy.

This trio of upcoming titles in 2026 was set to be a quartet, following the delay to the R-rated road trip adventure flick Animal Friends. First slated for release in August 2025, the change of distribution rights from Sony Pictures Releasing to Warner Bros. Pictures brought with it a delay until June 2026. Alas, the news recently dropped that the film had been delayed yet again, much to the dismay of fans. The film stars Momoa alongside an eye-catching cast in a blend of live-action and animation, including the likes of Ryan Reynolds, Aubrey Plaza, Dan Levy, Lil Rel Howery, Addison Rae, and Ellie Bamber.

Reynolds and Momoa star in the movie as two fugitive animals, Pony and Bear. "Pony has been described as a tiny narcissist, while the large Bear is conflict-averse," a synopsis reads. "They head out on an adventure across America to find the ranch they once lived on while being pursued by an equally odd couple DEA agent and Fish & Wildlife ranger." Penned by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider, this intriguing adventure comedy has now been pushed back to January 22, 2027.
