Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen post-split relationship is more complex than meets the eye.

The couple recently announced their separation following 18 months of separation but were then seen appearing on friendly terms as they stepped out, arm-in-arm.

As any couple navigating a divorce and raising children would know, the split is not entirely clean - with Mollen and Biggs still remaining in contact as they co-parent their two sons together.

Now Mollen, 46, insists not all that much has changed as they move forward into their new chapter, and that they are 'still romantic', but not in the traditional sense.

'It's still romantic. We still love each other. It's just not, I don't know. It's a different type of romance. It's, like, your best friend,' she said in an upcoming interview on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast obtained by People.

'We love each other, and it is a solid relationship,' she continued. 'We have always been amazing co-parents and teammates.'

Jenny Mollen says her relationship with ex Jason Biggs is 'still romantic' - after they split following 18 years of marriage

The former couple were seen appearing on surprisingly friendly terms as they stepped out in New York earlier this month after announcing their separation

The split has been a 'surreal' experience for Mollen, who says their two children have kept them 'tethered.'

'It's surreal, yeah, I feel like it's really bizarre,' she said. 'People will be like, ‘How does it feel?' And I'm like, ‘I don't know, the same?" We live in two different places, but we're still tethered. We have kids.

'We still talk 18 times a day about everyone's schedule and after school and holidays ... So it isn't a normal breakup where you're like, ‘See ya!' and then maybe we'll bump into each other in 10 years and talk about it. It's not like that.

The interview comes after the exes looked on surprisingly friendly terms as they stepped out arm-in-arm just weeks after confirming their split.

The exes announced their separation last month after 18 years of marriage and welcoming two sons, but looked like a couple still in love as they stepped out in New York City on earlier this month.

Mollen was seen clutching onto her ex's arm as the pair walked companionably down the street while deep in conversation.

A stoic Biggs held onto Mollen's hand as they chatted - following an alfresco lunch in which the actor was reportedly taken ill.

Eyewitnesses said Biggs 'experienced indigestion from the meal' - with the star seen being comforted by his ex as he kept his head down and rested on a wooden cabinet.

What's your view?

Less than a month earlier the duo announced their shock separation.

The couple's representative confirmed the split to People, adding they were on 'great terms' and prioritizing co-parenting their two sons.

Mollen was even present for Biggs' 48th birthday on May 12, the source said. The pair celebrated his birthday with their family.

'They are very much connected,' a source told the publication of their future raising children together. 'I have no doubt that they will remain on excellent terms.'

The duo's relationship began after they met while working on the 2008 film My Best Friend's Girl together.

They became engaged in January 2008 and eloped four months later. A ceremony held in Napa with 40 guests in attendance followed later that year.

They now share two sons together, Sid, 12, and Lazio, eight.

It was just over a year ago the duo with celebrating their 17th wedding anniversary with a joint post featuring their silly moments together.
