Jamie Lee Curtis and Daniel Radcliffe have enjoyed a poignant reunion 25 years after they played mother and son in the 2001 film The Tailor of Panama.

Both actors were scheduled to appear on Monday's TODAY show in separate interviews, but Jamie, 67, couldn't resist pulling Daniel, 36, into her live chat to share some memories.

Speaking to Hoda Kotb, Jamie gushed that she hadn't seen Daniel since he was ten-years-old on the set of their 2001 film.

She recalled how it was a pivotal time for the child star as during the shoot for The Tailor of Panama, his parents were in talks for him to take on the role which would shoot him to global fame - Harry Potter.

Jamie and Daniel admitted that the actress actually had a hand in his Harry Potter casting, as his reluctant parents debated if their son should take on such a huge role.

Recalling a conversation they had on set in 2000 Jamie remembered 'we were in the swimming pool. Daniel had to wear fake tan because he was very pale and we were supposed to live in Panama. All the kids were in the pool and he couldn't go in the pool because he had a fake tan.'

'I remember he was sitting by the pool and at one point I looked up at him and I went "wait you look like the kid who's on the cover of that book!"'

Jamie recalled how it was a pivotal time for the child star as during the shoot for The Tailor of Panama, his parents were in talks for him to take on the role of Harry Potter (pictured in The Tailor of Panama L-R Jamie, Lola Boorman, Daniel and Geoffrey Rush)

She explained that this was before Daniel was cast in the role of Harry Potter and said his mother confirmed that the casting team had already reached out to them about the possibility of signing on for seven films but she was weighing up the decision without telling Daniel.

'I don't think I knew at that point and my mum was looking at you saying "no, no no, don't mention it to him!" Daniel laughed.

A proud Jamie then added and now 'Daniel’s on Broadway singing, dancing, doing monologues, doing something very important.'

Daniel made his acting debut as the titular character in the 1999 BBC adaptation of David Copperfield.

Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone director Chris Columbus watched the show in a hotel room one night in 2000 and was immediately struck by the young actor.

But backing up Jamie's story the director has said that Daniel's parents were proving hard to persuade, especially at the thought of sending their son to LA for the shoot.

Weeks later Daniel and his parents were coincidently seated in front of producer David Heyman in a theater in London.

Heyman, like Columbus, was impressed with Daniel's presence and resemblance to JK Rowling's literary hero and persuaded the actor's parents to let him audition.

Once again though, Daniel's mum and dad turned down the offer with a compromise eventually reached of a contract for two films not seven and the film to shoot in the UK.

After the huge global success of the first two movies, Daniel signed on for all the films.

He starred in the first movie in the film series at just age 11, playing the same role for a decade, and wrapped the final installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 when he was 21.
