Jamie Chung reveals large blaze left her Atlanta home 'unlivable'… one year after wildfires destroyed LA house

Jamie Chung has revealed that she and her husband, actor Bryan Greenberg, lost their Atlanta home last summer to a fire that broke out on the roof.

Speaking to People, the 40-year-old actress said the large blaze left the apartment unlivable but that no one was hurt.

Still, the loss of the property was 'traumatic,' given that their Los Angeles abode burned down during the January 2025 wildfires that decimated neighborhoods across Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Pasadena and Altadena.

Chung was in Atlanta filming the holiday movie, The Holiday Spark, which premieres free on The Roku Channel on November 2, when the unfortunate incident occurred.

'There was a big fire on the roof and a lot of people evacuated,' Chung told the outlet. 'My apartment's unlivable at the moment, but that's to be expected.

'It was just quite traumatic having to deal with all that again. And it wasn't as bad, luckily. No one was hurt, no one was killed. That's what matters.'

While Chung's resilience was put to the test following the Los Angeles catastrophe, she has learned to cope with crisis by now.

'Honestly, I'm the one that's better with logistics when it comes to a crisis that we've experienced. And I think the trick is to absolutely stay calm, to focus on what matters the most, which is our family and our health, and being present,' she stated.

'I feel like when the fires happened in Altadena, I lost focus of what was important and I got so overwhelmed by the logistics, the paperwork. Getting all my paperwork in order, dealing with the insurance, talking to lawyers, other fire victims.'

The process included delving into the history of Altadena and its surrounding areas, which proved cathartic for Chung as well.

'Reading fun, case studies on the neighborhood that we purchased in and how it used to be cattle ranches, and third-party fire self-defense, off-the-grid systems that I can potentially look towards, architects,' she said.

'The list is ongoing and the amount of support that was given to me in the beginning was so generous from previous fire victims and lawyers and whatnot.'

Chung and the One Tree Hill alum have two children, twin sons they welcomed in October 2021 via surrogate.

'They certainly kept me grounded and present, but grounded in a way like you're not spinning out with anxiety and wondering about the what ifs and whatnot,' Chung said of her boys.

The Office Christmas Party star opened up about her marriage to the One Tree Hill alum back in 2024, saying: 'We love each other so much and it's just awesome. I love being married to him.' Above, Chung in 2024

Chung's new holiday movie, The Holiday Spark, which she filmed in Atlanta and also stars Joey Graziadei, premieres for free on The Roku Channel on November 2

She added: 'Really being grounded and present, enjoying this moment of learning how to read or telling funny joke. I think those kind of things are way more important.'

Back in 2024, Chung opened up about her marriage to Greenberg, saying 'listening to each other' was key to its success.

The two tied the knot in 2015.

'What I love about Bryan is he understands the business, but also, we're there to support each other. It's not a competition,' she told Us Weekly.

'We love each other so much and it's just awesome. I love being married to him.

'You're not married to the same person [after 10 years]. We grow every day. We are different people every day and I think the most important thing is to fill each other's emotional cup, try listening to each other and show empathy and try to [be] understanding.'

The former Once Upon a Time star also explained that 'staying curious' is equally important.

She added: 'The best word for this year is to stay curious. 'Why are you feeling this way?' To stay curious and open — and I have a great marriage counsel or if anyone needs one!'
