Warner Bros.’ first trailer for 2025’s Superman arrived on Thursday, and it gives fans a look at David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and lots and lots of people looking up at the sky.
It’s been almost two years since Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad director James Gunn took over leadership of DC Studios alongside producer Peter Safran, and announced a new slate of DC Comics films. Superman, formerly known as Superman: Legacy, is the new DC Universe’s first big-screen effort, introducing a new version of the original superhero to a wide audience.
Superman rounds out its cast with Edi Gathegi (X-Men: First Class) as the superhero Mister Terrific, who Gunn has said “has a big part of the plot.” Written and directed by Gunn himself, Superman also features a whole cadre of other DC Comics superheroes — including Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Guy Gardner/Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan), and the Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría) — some of whom are expected to reprise those roles in upcoming DC Films projects like The Authority.
Superman will hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
