The rumors are at it again with the DC Universe franchise.

The DCU's Chapter 1: "Gods and Monsters" brought not just Superman to life in 2025, but also the Girl of Steel, as the two Kryptonian cousins shared the screen together in DC Studios' new superhero reboot. While the continuity is expanding with more stories and characters, many false and inaccurate rumors continue to surround the various projects, as well as their stars.

Audience members noticed recently that Milly Alcock, who plays Kara Zor-El in the DCU, had removed several Supergirl posts from her official Instagram page, which sparked rumors that she had potentially been fired from the franchise, after her 2026 film underperformed at the box office. A user asked James Gunn directly on Threads if there were any truth to it, as well as "“Man of Tomorrow had a test screening and it got poor reviews because it ended in a dark way and a beloved DC hero was k***ed off."

The DC Studios co-CEO responded with the following: "Oh brother. You guys just have to stop listening to BS, and I'm mostly done shooting down rumors as there are so many and I'm not on here much. But all three of these couldn't be more false. I'm showing PETER SAFRAN my first Director's Cut today - he's the first person to see it obviously - and that's a month early!"
