Io9 2025 Spoiler

Labubu: The Movie

THR reports a movie based on the Labubu toy line is now in development at Sony. However, “no producer or filmmaker is attached at this stage,” and it’s “too early to tell whether the potential movie would be live-action or animated.”

The Upturned Stone

Bloody-Disgusting also reports a film adaptation of Scott Hampton’s 1993 Halloween-set graphic novel The Upturned Stone is in development with Anky Cyriaque set to direct. Set on Halloween 1969, the story follows “four boys whose lives are forever changed when they discover an abnormally large pumpkin. After baking it into a pie, the boys begin having chilling dreams that unravel the mystery of a ghost, a serial killer, and a supernatural quest for justice.”

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

During a recent interview with Variety, Chloé Zhao stated her new Buffy the Vampire series isn’t a reboot because “you can never replace these characters.”

It is not a reboot. It’s a sequel. You can never replace these characters. I would never allow that. And Sarah’s back. I love my cast, the new cast. We will bring back OG characters for sure. And it is a show that bridges two generations — it’s not just about the kids. I think the fandom is so important to us. We want the fandom to see themselves mirrored in the original fandom. And of course, we want new fans to join, and it’s very much about both generations.

I watched religiously. I was at Mount Holyoke. We would all gather — I think it was every Thursday or Tuesday — and we would watch, because you only get one episode and you’re waiting a week. It’s such a ritual. I remember the last episode finishing, and we sat there; everyone was crying, and we were all holding hands. I remember looking at the screen, tears streaming down my eyes, and I said, “Good luck to you, Buffy Summers, good luck to you.” Seeing Sarah in real life was probably one of the most stressful moments of my life.

DC Crime/Jimmy Olsen

As noted by Bleeding Cool, James Gunn took to Threads to state the upcoming Jimmy Olsen spinoff series is not titled DC Crime, as reported by Deadline.

Just FYI there has never been a project titled DC Crime in development, not even as a working title. I don’t know where that came from but it’s weird. And no that doesn’t mean all of the rest of the story is false.

Wonder Man

According to the Winter 2025 issue of Disney’s D23 Magazine (via The Direct), Josh Gad will play “an extremely famous version of himself” who will “showcase his singing abilities” in Wonder Man.

Ghosts

Ghosts celebrates Thanksgiving in the trailer for this week’s new episode.

It: Welcome to Derry

Finally, HBO has released a midseason trailer for the second half of It: Welcome to Derry.
