Bond 26 is the unofficial name for the currently untitled 26th installment in the James Bond series. It is being developed as a full reboot following Daniel Craig’s exit from the role. Production is expected to begin around 2027, with a potential release slated for 2028 or later. The film cast a brand-new actor to play Agent 007, with plans to depict a younger version of the character.
While specific plot details remain shrouded in mystery at the time of this article's publication, it has been confirmed that Steven Knight is currently writing the screenplay. Early speculation and reports about the plot details are all over the place. Some people believe the storyline will be about artificial intelligence, while others think it will return to a 1960s setting or a brand-new origin story for the iconic spy.
Amazon MGM Studios announced at CinemaCon that they are currently searching for a new actor. However, they added that they were going to take their time so they could find the perfect match because they didn't want to rush the process. Courtenay Valenti, head of film at Amazon MGM Studios, addressed the strong interest in who will be cast as the next James Bond, but revealed that the studio is moving carefully and thoughtfully. She explained that the team is approaching the decision with a deep sense of respect for the character and the franchise, describing the opportunity to shape the next chapter as a major responsibility they are taking seriously.
Valenti added that combining one of the most iconic franchises in film history with a top-tier creative team, including director Denis Villeneuve, producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, executive producer Tanya Lapointe, and writer Steven Knight, would greatly help the project to live up to the legacy of James Bond. She noted that the film is moving forward, with more details expected to be revealed when the timing is right.
Rumors have continued to swirl about potential candidates for the next James Bond. Actors such as Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, and Louis Partridge are frequently mentioned as possible contenders to take on the iconic role. Whoever is ultimately cast will be stepping into a legacy shaped by some of the franchise’s most celebrated performances.
