Jacob Elordi has left the internet divided after he snapped at an overzealous fan who approached him for a selfie on the weekend.

In the clip, which has now racked up millions of views, the 28-year-old Wuthering Heights star looked less than impressed when a fan greeted him in Japan with, 'What up, chief?' before attempting to grab his attention by touching his back.

The gesture caught Jacob off-guard and it wasn't long before he let his true feelings be known.

He turned around and snapped, 'Please don't touch me, bro!' before walking away.

The comments underneath the video were divided, with some agreeing that the fan crossed personal boundaries and Jacob handled the situation perfectly, while others argued he could have been nicer.

'Why are you touching strangers?' one fan commented.

'Second hand embarrassment and not because of Jacob. Why do you touch unsolicited people on the streets?' commented a second.

A third agreed, 'Totally agree. Jacob had every right to react the way he did. Touching another individual is not without intention.!! If you want a photo? Just ask! Jacob was aware of your presence. So why the touch?? You wanted to touch him!!'

Another added, 'Why are you touching him. Don't touch random people like wtf. Why do people think this is ok. The patience he must have, too many people up in his space.'

Others argued that Jacob could have handled the situation better.

'He seems rude,' one wrote.

'Jacob always gave me the impression of someone arrogant. I'm not justifying them touching him, but it seems to me that he thinks he's superior all the time,' wrote a second.

Another argued that they think Jacob is letting the fame get to his head.

'I used to really like him but since he did the Kissing Booth, he really thinks he is better than everyone,' they wrote.

'The fact that he bad mouthed the very films that made him famous prove he is an ungrateful individual!!!'

Days earlier, Jacob was spotted on a sushi date with girlfriend Kendall Jenner.

The couple were spied at the famed restaurant The Seirinkan as they talked to some of the employees.

The Tokyo venue is a highly popular spot that serves Italian food such as Neapolitan-style pizza and pasta as they play hit songs from The Beatles.

Jenner wore a pale yellow semi-sheer silk suit that buttoned up the front with her hair in a ponytail as Elordi posed in casual clothing with a baseball cap on backwards.
